user reviews of the Queen Mary, Embankment

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I have to concur with the reicews above - the bouncers were terrible when I went. Rude and aggressive and kept people queueing for ages for no reason - only to let their mates in who barged past everyone. Will never darken its doors again.

I worked on the Queen Mary 1990 and to be honest the bouncers were top notch then. I've been back a few times over the years but it's not the same. It's technically leaking I believe. There used to be a great bar crew there a long time ago (managed by a mr Mike Challenger - take a bow, Mike!).
It's only a pub that rocks from side to side!

I went to this place for the first time last Saturday. I was somewhat apprehensive due to the comments I read on this site, but I have to say, Me and and my mates really enjoyed it, and didn't get any grief from the bouncers.
I went for a 30th birthday and we didn't (for once!) feel too old for a club and the music was suitably cheesy.
Definatley will go again!

I went to the Queen Mary tonight at 9.05 and was greeted at the door by the rudest bouncer ever. He asked " are we expecting supermarket prices?" when we requested a better price than the standard cover charge when there were 7 of us. And this was five minutes after they had started charging. I raised this to the manager Gary who assured us this was not standard practise. when we left we were requested to "leave the premises" because we were being "aggressive" when we were waiting to say goodbye to our friend who's birthday it was, when we were standing by the door in a very ordinary fashion. No surprise it was the exact same bouncer. I was disappointed with an establishment who has a reputation of having superior service to be treated like cheapskates and agressive individuals. I hope everyone will take note and realise that this venue is completlety overrated in its respect.

A friend and I foolishly attempted to go to the Queen Mary last Friday. The deck looked at most half full, but because this is London the bouncers were running one of those queues to try to make it look all exclusive and desirable. But it was a nice evening and people seemed to be coming and going, so we figured we'd wait a bit. After 20 mins (during which the number of people who left was easily twice the number they'd let in) we were next in the queue. At which point, out of the blue, a bouncer came from the inside of the boat and announced, "There's about 50 people too many on board, so we have to wait for them to leave before we can let any more people on." We declined the tantalising opportunity to continue to wait.

There's nothing I like more than attempting to go into a crappy pub, then being treated like a dog by a team of bouncers who I am quite certain would struggle to spell "cat" if you gave them the "c" and the "a". Do yourself and the rest of London a favour, don't ever go to this pub, and with a bit of luck it will go out of business, and the bouncers and management will die of starvation (or stupidity).

Have been out here a few times now with some mates, really liking it on a saturday night.

can't understand why people are moaning about the bouncers, we have been stupidly drunk, but we remained courteous and pleasant and they were helpful as you like.

I agree with the above comments about the girls dancing against poles. Always nice.

Good atmosphere, half decent beer, nice staff, decent music, nice location.

Also, you can see the OXO tower from the boat, meaning you can make lots of suggestive remarks to the burds asking them if they would like to be taken up the OXO tower [think about it...] and if they would like it. Sorry, but that makes me snigger every time...

All in all a good package. It shall become a regular haunt of ours from hereon in.

What a great place! Food was great, staff super friendly. We all came on a company dinner after work, sat on the sun deck enjoyed the awesome view.
Love it and would definitely reccomend it to people who want to enjoy a night out on a boat. Couldn't believe the cheap prices for food and drink. Having our Christmas party there because the CEO loved it.

This pub had been my favorate for the past 4 years. In fact, I've held more parties on board the QM than any other bar.

The other evening I met the new manager while trying to book for 30 or so people and I left the bar thinking 'never again'.

Apart from closing the bar at 7.30 while myself and other drinkers were in the middle of our pints (he thought it was too quiet) I was given a load of rules and regulations which had been recently introduced if hosting a party. These included all guests into the nightclub section of the boat by 9.00pm and they would each have to pay even though they were drinking already. If they missed moving over by 9.00pm, they would have to que up outside with everyone else until they would be allowed back in. This coupled with the fact we'd ALL have to pay a door charge left me thinking too much stress for what used to be a very chilled out and relaxed place. Maybe I'll just have the occasional drink there in the summer from now on:-(

Legendery location on the thames and fab choice of rooms inside that provide all the necessary ingredients for a cracking night out! Despite previous reviews the staff know exactly how to get the party spirit flowing and could not have done any more to rock the boat! Pole dancing divas heaven on the dance floor - no need for Strinfellows with this shape making set on the go!
Thanks to magic managers Carole and Gary for a fab festive night ou t- will definitely return to sink a few soon!:)

All I can say is this place is really good fun except for the mentality of the boucers. The no brain bouncers have nothing between their two ears and clearly the boat could capacitate a lot more people, but a queue is set up from 6pm onwards. I just hope the owner of this place knows how much money he is losing out on because of these dumbasses.

Visited the Queen Mary on friday what a reliefe they have done something about the DJ's Much better music playing and the croud seemed to like it.
The beer was good and the staff were plesent and helpfull, they have really sorted it out since my last visit. I will go back again jut to see if my visit was just a one off or if things really have improved.

The rudest bar supervisor I've ever met. The beer was warm and flat and when asked to change for a differnt beer was told 'you ordered it, you pay for it, or get out!'. Luckily I'm not a tourist and know there are good pubs to drink in, just hope someone visiting London does'nt get the same treatment! Drink somewhere else until they sort themselves out.

if you want to drink beer on a boat on the Thames go to the Tatershall Castle 3/400 yards down riverbank towards Houses of Parliament. Very expensive especially food.never order food because staff can never find food usually sits in long lines along the bar. Stabilizers in dock don't work so boat rocks alot and toilets always blocking up(have own storage tanks alongside)Staff always seem clueless don't know their port from their starboard!

How much fun can you have here? Open late, swinging DJs. Can be fairly pricey, but no problem. Also you can go on deck which is nice for the summer. Get in early to avoid the queue and having to pay.
