The previous post appears to come from the former licensee at the George. Whilst we're assured that prostitutes were never regular clientelle for the four years after they bought it in 2004, doesn't that take us right up to 2008? Perhaps this confusion stretches to his or her memory of the many aggressive clashes and yes, fights that I and everyone else saw during their tenure. The George was and is a rough pub run with a casual approach to its pitiful drug scene.

ile have u know! the george did never have prostitutes in it, we bought the pub in 2004 and we refurbished it, and since then we had a strict dress code, and only decent people was allowed in, we had the george for nearly 4years and we had 1 little scrap in there, other than that it was good, and great to handle, i dont know what its like now adays because we dont go in/near there anymore but who ever says it wasnt a nice pub then i think there wrong

In the unlikely event of the previous comments about this place enticing you in, don't expect any real ales on offer

What a shame for this place, they have done it up really nice both inside and out but still attracts the same scum of Bury.
If you ever need a fix/new outfit/woman for the weekend go in here!
Apparently my mother missed her bus home once so called in here for a quick drink as it was very cold out.
She commented to the bar person, ''why are there so many women out tonight, is it a group meeting?''
The bar person said it was the local prostitutes, must say I have never seen any in Bury, yet!

first time i went in there some one came over kicking off, second time i saw some under the table exchanges going on so chose not to go in again which was a wise choice because most of the time when i walked past it there was people fighting in the doorway its just a good job its only 50 yards from a taxi rank if ever you need to leg it

Never been in here yet!Was told you get a few characters inside. Has had it's re-fit since though. The brewery (the terrible 'Enterprise inns') has been advertising for new management. (whether they have found someone yet or not, i don't know)but with any look they'l turn this pub around. It looks good now. Certainly entises you to want to go in there. With modern (hogs head) styled purple/green lights, lighting up it's front at night, and a trendy look inside, i most certainly will be popping in soon to find out what its like! (Till then,if anyone has been in after 8 Dec 04, let us know what its like now!Cheers!) I'l give it 7/10 for the re-fit for now!!

The George is currently being re-fitted. Hopefully they'll make the place less baseball cap tolerant, fetch all the blue drinks out of the chiller and attract a more balanced crowd. Maybe the next reviewer will prove me right.
