please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

It`s a gay bar but looks more like an upmarket cafe..all bright and shiney..just like the clientelle. Bar person was very friendly informing us it was er...happy hour. Standard range of beers, not vastly expensive. Lacks a bit of character but then we`s spit and sawdust blokes and I did inform the missus I`d been in!

I don't think this has real ale any more which is a shame as it is a nonthreatening gay pub in south Birmingham frequeneted by a variety of people.

are you trying to apply from my description of the barstaff as being friendly enough that they found me "cute?" crikey. maybe i should go again.

Didn't find it particulalry friendly (but I'm not "cute"). Indifferent staff and service. Wouldn't go again.

went in here briefly on a saturday afternoon. They had one real ale (speckled hen sadly, but itwas well kept enough) and it seemed alright, the barstaff were friendly enough and i seem to remember something about a Freddy Mercury tribute wall? is that really there or did i imagine it. Anyway, alright enough if you're passing,. It is a gay bar but it's not a militent gay bar such as Missing appears to be.

Thought I'd add a recent review since those two are 2-3 years out of date. I went to The Village for the first time this week. It was a Wednesday afternoon and was very quiet until about 5pm when the after-works-drinks crowd filled up the place a little more. I'd like to try this place on a Friday night, because I liked what I saw:

> Friendly bar staff
> Cute little beer garden; all tables covered and outdoor heaters... plus outdoor music and LCD tv!
> Modern yet cosy decor
> Drinks not too expensive

It's nearly 2009 so if you're in the Gay Quarter of Birmingham, I'd say ignore the older reviews and give this a go while you're doing the rounds! Worth a try!

Odd collision between a trad. pub serving real ale
and a late-late club. Would be less out of place in Manchester.

Used to be a nice friendly "traditional" pub. Someone has tried to update this gay pub, resulting in the mess thats left. Open till 0600am on Sunday nights!
