Further to Stoneye's comment of "djs playing crap that attracts all the druggies and riff raff". I DJ'd there in 2002/03 and I really did try to help that place!

Myself and the manager tried 'gentrifying' the venue by playing responsible music, in order to entice the real people in. Naturally, some punters whined like fcuking children, and the barstaff made the mistake of listening to them. They were great barstaff, but why did they feel this need to bring in their own CDs filled with foul-mouthed rap and garage, and seriously expect me to play it.

After seven months, they replaced me with the hopeless kid that I was brought in to replace! Back came the garage, the rap, the dancehall, and in came the hoodie scum and saw that place downhill once again. Such a waste.

I used to frequent the Tuesday karaoke hosted by Mutley. It was a great place, but they allowed the scum to ruin it.

It has been boarded up yet again

The Queens Head is a marvellous building, but the last owners did not do it justice. There was a cleanup in 2008 when the current owners took over, introducing an over 21's policy and removing many of the undesirables, and now it seams they are building up a nice new clientele.

The plethora of pool tables still seems to be the biggest draw, with the front section was packed as a Six Nations match was in full flow and a Premier League game about to kick-off.

They have two beer gardens and depending on what time of day they are soaked in sunshine, but there is also a covered smoking shelter too.

The new staff are friendly, two guys from East London, and really seamed to care about their customers.

I recommend you give this pub a go.

This is a large sports pub with four pool tables, table football, a dartboard and plenty of plasma screens dotted about. During my visit half of the screens were showing Sky Sports News feed as there was no worthwhile sport being shown live and the other half were showing a wildlife program about life on the plains of the Serengeti. Both of these had full sound on which mingled into a mess of white noise which wasnt very pleasant. The gents toilet is disgraceful and can be smelt 20 feet away when being approached, I darent think what the kitchen is like that knocks out the cheap pub grub.

Along with the six or so picnic tables in the front car park there is also a good sized paved and grassed beer garden out the back which needs some care and attention.

The barmaid was friendly enough and although there is only a standard draught selection my Guinness was fine. Unfortunately this is not enough for me to want to return again though.

went in here & seeing no real ale on ordered Guinness but was told it 'wasn't running through' !

Went in the other day, only 3 other customers. They have tried to brighten it up a bit, pot plants, cutains open etc, but the carpets are filthy, fag burns and chewing gum. It would be great to have bands and alternative music nights, something needed in this area.

Was in here last nightwith a mate for one and we were the only two Customers.
All the scum have gone and the Guvnor has a no baseball caps rule, and you have to buy a drink if you go in there(why a rule is needed for this sums up the state of pubs these days)
Its going to take the new bloke a while to get punters back through the doors, but good luck with it mate, at least your are trying to do the right thing.

This is the worst pub in the world. Full of jabbering berks and knives.
dusty_crumbatch - 11 Aug 2008 19:32
I see it's re-opened (blimey)! I thought the same as you t-sean - more flaming flats but seems we were both wrong - so far anyway. Not been in there yet but there's an over 21's with ID rule and it's under new management. I'll venture in soon and hopefully will be grateful it's remained a pub!

Refurb?????
I expect flats, another good old pub(In its pre sports bar days) gone, never to return.
I hope i'm wrong....but
stoneye, i hate gastro pubs with a passion, but make you right in this case
tottenhamsean - 29 May 2008 13:40
Interested to see what they make of this - if it ever reopens. The chances are it will be turned into (yet another) betting shop...
ebenezer66 - 21 May 2008 16:23
This awful pub is now closed for refurb. Anything would be better than its previous state.
dpv - 6 May 2008 13:55
would rather see it as a gastropub then the chavhole it was , but it would be much better as a live music venue
stoneye - 25 Apr 2008 14:24
A HELL HOLE ON EARTH
I was a regular in the old Queens, and yeah it was shabby, but a decent boozer with half decent bands.
Since the refurb, its gone down hill fast.I was in there Friday afternoon with a mate of mine.the place was full of scum, and very tatty.I really felt for the young blonde barmaid.Full of wannabee ganstaaaaaassss trying to intimidate anyone outside their mob who was in there, they failed.I dont think they had a drink between them
It's a Gun crime scene waiting to happen
Was going to give it zero, but coz the barmaid was nice i've upped it to 3
tottenhamsean - 9 Mar 2008 09:23
I have been told that this pub is closing down and is going to become a gastropub? Is this true? I would rather see it become a music venue again.
dalglish - 23 Feb 2008 13:45
i've lived in this area for a while and watch this place go downhill. If you do manage to get past the hoodies at the door you'll be greeted with dingy decor and sleezy men. Not reccomended.
willbrown - 1 Feb 2008 02:33
Utter tripe.
Bring back the old Queens
tottenhamsean - 4 Nov 2006 18:47
Sports Zone. Two big screens Loads of small tellys 7 pool tables. Big pub.
Bohner13 - 10 Jul 2006 12:52
This pub is perhaps unfairly maligned; the beer is exteremely mediocre but it fulfils its intention of being a sports venue well. Plenty of pool tables and television screens. Not too expensive but one for sports fans only and ones that think Micheal Jackson is the King of Pop rather than the King of beer critics.
kyle473 - 16 Oct 2005 23:18
This place is a god forsaken place with a large proportion of tracksuit and reebok brigade. Bling is the thing in here and speed garage is the norm.

Known locally as the Punch and Headbut, I have only beenin once since they "refurbished" it. I wish they hadn't have bothered. It resembles a sea side amusment park more than a boozer.

The beer is pee and the atmosphere is chavtastic.

Come only for an England game on TV where ther is a good atmosphere, to score a Henry or to get your face smashed in!
anonymous - 16 Jun 2005 17:51
Nice outdoor gardens, otherwise not much to recommend it except for the architecture. The beer is expensive and stale, with very little selection.
chelydra - 1 Dec 2004 15:12
used to be grotty but had decent bands on thursdays been revamped looks alot better but no bands has djs playing crap that attracts all the druggies and riff raff
