user reviews of the Art Picture House, Bury

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Art Picture House is the prominent building you see when entering Bury by tram or bus. It is a Wetherspoons outlet with a central bar and the preserved former cinema interior. Ales were Caledonian Rising Sun Pale Ale, Butcombe Moxee IPA, JW Lees The Governor, Wells Bombardier Glorious English, Phoenix Wobbly Bob, Moorhouses Blond Witch, Ruddles Best & Sharps Doom Bar. Ciders were Westons The Collaborators & Black Rat. Very handy place and one of two good Wetherspoons in the town.

Definitely one of the better Wetherspoons and worth a visit. The food is good for a Wetherspoons (with their usual value menus) and the choice of cask ales has improved a lot recently. Far better than the other Wetherspoons in Bury!

Stunning decor for a pub as it still maintains the previous cinema decor fittings. Convenient location directly opposite the bus & tram interchange too.

Central bar so more pumps round the back than first appears. Typical Wetherspoons - large room with the toilets upstairs.

Full of oldies but can be fun as theres always one decent girl in. Music easy to dance to and good price alcohol, VERY friendly door staff and good night if you enjoy the cheesiness.

First went on a hen party and got the trots
Second time went and my friend got thrown out even thought she was the one who was attached
Third time went in, full to bursting, stuck to carpets and full of old women (with far too many gold jewellery pieces on their bodies) looking for toy boys.
Takes ages to get served and dont have a good selection of wines but they do good offers of beers and spirits.
Fourth time, dont think so!!!

Now i say this the bar service is now poor on the sat night 11/02/06 went in at 11.30pm only between 4 - 6 bar staff sreving wot over 50 people at the bar during its busy times its a joke waiting 10 - 20 mins even having to pay 4 to get in as well deffo off my pub crawl list now even the door staff didnt care as they were making money all time with the people going in must have been over 800 people in at that time too
not good like it used to be full of people waiting to get served and poor bar staff working their socks off for next to nowt and they were young too bless them

THE PLACE NORMALLY IS ALRIGHT. GOOD ATMOSPHERE. FUNKY DESIGN INSIDE. MODERN MIXED WITH CLASSIC. GOOD LIVE ENTERTAINMENT. FRIENDLY STAFF. NICE AND CLEAN. QUITE BIG.PLENTY OF SPACE-DANCE AREA.
