Now a Joule's house - has their stamp on it. A bit more of a food emphasis than other branches. Ale was okay but people did tend to crowd round the bar making it awkward to get served in spite of there being plenty of space.

Closed on Saturday 16/07/11 @ 20:00 not sure if this is permanent but disappointed as it sounded better than most of the others in town.

Decent enough pub with a selection of 3-4 real ales, including a few locals such as Enville and Salopian. Toilets are located in a separate building through the yard. Seems to be a popular local. Probably one of the best pubs in Newport... but that's not saying much. If you're in this town and need somewhere for a pint or two, this is probably a good bet. Located at the main car entrance to the Waitrose car park.

quarry tiled floors, old beams, real fireplaces and stoves, always three minimum guest real ales, cloth caps and dogs allowed. Small and very friendly. Just the way a pub should be. Nothing flash, by the way, just a good honest pub.
