" apparently they were serving people alcohol even if they hadn't bought any food"
They've been doing that for the last 30 years. Over priced bottles of Keo at 3am in the monrng were it's speciality. Makes one wonder why the council are bothering now.

I read that they raided this place a couple of weeks ago for abusing its late license - apparently they were serving people alcohol even if they hadn't bought any food, which they shouldn't do - and the council are now going to review its license.

"Usually love this place but went there last night and found a thin piece of sharp steel in my kebab. Bit into it quite hard. I went to take my kebab back but as I'd eaten half of it they only offered me a 2 refund from the 3.50 I originally paid! Won't be going back anymore."

So you don't know that Camden Council have a Trading Standards department then? What do you think they are for if not this?
Drop them an email or something and at least the place will get hassled like they deserve for that kind of service.

I don't think they serve any more :-( I went in on a weekend night I believe, too, and they wouldn't serve me. Also it was closing early I think, e.g. 2am. As usual, the reputation of a place catches up with it and it gets worse. Damn stupid councillors etc.

Been there, done that, even got the T-shirt. However the sheer quality of the place means I'll continue being a repeat customer.

One night when it was packed, we were drunk but also very satisfied after a delicious kebab I came up with a great idea...to steal a table from the back room.

My mate encouraged me to go for the stool instead, which in itself was challeng given I'd have to smuggle it out past the 12 turks. However I did succeed and ended up taking home a stool.

A chippie/kebab shop that's open until 4am, sells cans of cheap beer and plays live music (Elvis impersonator was on last time I went in). Fantastic! The perfect place to stop off at on the way home from a night out in Camden.

The most amazing kebab shop you will ever see. The kebab itself was amazing, then grabbed a beer and sat out the back listening to some guys on sax. Even got a couple of drinks for the road. In a word. Phenomenal.

best place in the world when you've just pulled a fitty at the barfly and she wants some chips

A kebab shop with live music and alcohol 'til the early hours? Only in Camden. The quality of all the above commodities is suspect at best but I wouldn't change a thing - God bless the Marathon and all who sail in her.

Where do I start!? What a place!! My band played a show in Camden and after the show we found our way to Marathon. We were directed to it by bar staff in the club we played in, being a monday and already 12am we where certain to have a good time. To our amazment, everything the guy said was true. Absolutely top kebabs, cheap beer til like 3am, and some crazy french guy called daniel busting out some solo blues guitar!! We had a great time, and as we were going to leave, i had a massive fight in the texaco garage next door with some well drunk mouthy guy. PERFECT!

Nominally a kebab shop, but overwhelmingly a late-night drinking place that's not for the faint of heart.

Not as good as a few years ago when you could drink and socialise outside until the early hours, but you can still get a drink inside as late as 3 or 4am most days. Has a shambolic guitar and sax duo playing in the back room where you'll inevitably hear "Johnny B Goode", but on occasions has had top names play some songs unannounced (notably Jack White and Nick Oliveri).

The staff are exceedingly good-natured considering the drunken shit they have to put up with. Quite simply a Camden institution.
