Used to be an OK pub. Now frequented by riff-raff and assorted criminal types. Avoid.

I find it intriguing that this pub has a higher rating than the Fat Cat down the road. In reality, it was a real let down after the range of beers and excellent atmopshere we experienced in the Fat Cat. The Nelson had only 5 real ales - Deuchars IPA, Shepherd Neame Spitfire, Woodfordes Wherry, Fullers London Pride and Brandon Rusty Bucket. Aspalls is the cider. The atmosphere was muted. We were the only people in the one bar and I don't remember seeing anybody else in the other bar. But why would anybody come here when the Fat Cat is just down the road. Maybe a good one as part of a crawl. But otherwise, I would not return.

Friendly traditional two bar pub not far from The Fat Cat. The landlord seemed friendly and stated that all his beer regularly changes. On hand pump; Spitfire, Deuchars IPA, Wherry, Humpty Dumpty Swallowtail and Badger Tanglefoot on the back bar. According to the GBG it seems Spitfire, Deuchars IPA and Wherry are regulars. Comfortable pub that shows Sky Sports News on a Saturday.

Went in to this before the F.C to try and do it justice, but not much of interest on the bar and the beer was not at its best, even after i changed it. I can see that it would make a decent local, but maybe the beer was just moving a little slowly.

After The Cat you wonder what to expect approaching here. Caters for all and must do well with 7 handpumps offered. Another example of what CAN be done with an out of centre local.

The Nelson has some fantastic offers at lunch times on meals for senior citizens which is really great to see and they now have a happy hour daily from 4.30 til 7pm.
They also have a myspace with up to date info (myspace.com/nelsonpubnorwich)

We walked through this pub to the carpark where there was a beer festival in the crows nest, a large outbuilding well set up with stillages. It was a lovely day and we enjoyed our ales in the garden. A couple of the beers were a little cloudy but enjoyed nevertheless.

Friendly local pub which welcomes all it customers as regulars and part of the family. Great choice of Real Ales - one for all taste's. A Good frendly feeling from all the staff and well looked after pub. They have a great Beer Garden and a covered area for the smokers which is well used - As Great Local Pub one to try if you are in the Area. The Partners are hitting the spot with the local's and other Visitors alike - Keep it up

It cant be easy running a pub which is just a short stroll down the road from the real ale Mecca which is the Fat Cat. The Nelson is essentially a community led pub but still manages to appeal to the real ale seeker with its comprehensive range of permanent and guest beers. It does have at least one feature which its neighbour lacks and thats a garden. Altogether a nice little boozer.

Go along with everything that's been said. Community local that seems to side step the chav brigade. Clean and tidy. Good beer and staff, check it out.
