londondrinker2008 - 4 Dec 2008 15:04
Large town centre JDW, recently refurbished, so in decent condition.
SilkTork - 25 Nov 2007 22:39
I forgot to mention in my last comment that this pub is in fact no longer a Lloyds No 1, but in fact a regular Wetherspoon. Its still clean, and tidy, yet as miserable as hell. Its been literary almost empty on every visit Ive made. I can understand the reasoning behind the refurbishment and changes with all the trouble they had here in the past, but something needs to be done. This is a large pub, which should have a vibrant atmosphere and a buzz about it, but its just a tragic case right now. Hopefully things will pick up come July 1st when they may get some of their perhaps older and less immature custom back.
HTM69 - 8 Jun 2007 13:15
Finally this pub has been sorted, before hand i would have only gone there as a last resort or if a friend had stupidly organised to have a few birthday drinks there.

But now i could happily sit in the pub and relax they have done a nice job making it more representable and you dont get none of the old bad crowed in there!!

food is ok and drink reasonably priced!!
the only issue i have is the non smoking thing!
anonymous - 12 Apr 2007 11:32
I finally got round to visiting the recently refurbished and newly named Furze Wren lasts night (Feb 15th) and am pleased to report that it appears to have been a success. Its extremely quiet (seemingly at all times) and this certainly makes a change from how it used to be! The interior is neat, tidy and everything was impeccably clean, even the food tasted better than usual! Whether here can maintain the high standards once the smoking ban is fully enforced everywhere from July 1st well have to wait and see. In the meantime however, (if you can drink without the smoke!), Id recommend popping in.
HTM69 - 16 Mar 2007 14:00
As previously stated, Lloyds has been refurbished and given the new name, The Furze Wren. It is now decked out with leather sofas and it all looks rather fake to me. Hopefully there will be less trouble in the future, but its still essentially the same place. The trouble aside, if you didnt like it before, the chances are you still wont like it. Oh, and it has gone non-smoking. Although the ban doesnt start until July 1st, any newly opened or refurbished establishment in the chain will be so. It was quite empty because of it and RSVP next door (knowing that theyll get a few more customers in the meantime) are seemingly taken full advantage of the remaining smoking months by hiking up the prices.
HTM69 - 25 Feb 2007 13:07
Finally finally finally!! The police have done something about this hell hole!! With the level of violence in there and the apparent arrogance of the management it's not come a moment too soon!
anonymous - 22 Feb 2007 02:00
i gather there was another person bottled in this place on Sunday. I thought they'd been told to use plastics?? Either the police let them off lightly after christmas or Lloyds are blatently ignoring them!! How long until someone intelligent closes this place down?!
anonymous - 31 Jan 2007 16:33
Lloyds Lloyds Lloyds where have you gone wrong? Is it the rubbish bouncers that you have? Is it the Millwall "top boys" that go there and drink their blue WKD and think they can fight everyone(which they try and do)? Is it that you let more people in then you can accomadate? Ive had some enjoyable Sunday evenings in there but there always seems to have a menacing air in there particularly when afore mentioned "top boys" sing their song. Ive been there when it has 'gone off' and the bouncers have done nothing to stop it. Ive been there when someone has been bottled in the toilets and my younger brother has given him first aid. However a mention must go to the freshen up man whose "no spray no lay" patter has been tried and failed in other pubs. The staff have been ok and it must feel like an uphill struggle for them sometimes. Please Lloyds sort yourself out because I now have to spend Sunday evenings with my girlfriend!!!!
Leroy79 - 27 Jan 2007 15:17
OK - This has to be the last word on this disgusting Wetherspoons venture.
What follows below is a direct quotation from the Bexley local paper 'News Shopper' of 10th January 2007. Article title:
POLICE ISSUE WARNING AFTER ATTACKS IN PUB
Pub bosses have been given a stern warning by police after three patrons were attacked in five days.
A 17-year old girl had a broken glass shoved in her face.
An 18-year old man was left covered in blood after a bottle was smashed over his head.
The third attack took place, when another man was glassed.
Bexley Police Chief Inspector Steve Murrant said of the Manaagement "If they can't take their duties seriously, we have no other option than to use measures to make sure they do".

Wetherspoon's knew what they were doing when they set a place like this up, and the exactly what demographic they would attract.

I'd give Chief Inspector Steve Murrant another option - a Bulldozer!
anonymous - 11 Jan 2007 11:12
I used to go to lloyds about 2 years ago and i admit i was under age! But now i go there regular and it is alot better a great place to meet with friends catch up have a dance then move on to a club!!!
nicci18 - 27 Oct 2006 16:29
Now that Yates has closed, surely it can only be a matter of weeks until Lloyds, meets it's nadir.
PigPen_in_the_Fens - 29 Sep 2006 16:47
i was the last person to write a review and i dont work there i just know the people that work there and if you know one you get to know the rest of the staff includingthe managers and kitchen staff if you're sitting with ur mate that works there and other staff members come and join you and talk to you, you get to know them you also get to know the managers coz they see you with their satff and you got to know the doormen as well like keith bobby paul dan san diego and the other dan. just cox you have no friends in the pub DONT HATE!!!!!!!!
anonymous - 17 Aug 2006 20:19
hellish place. be warned.

last person to write review must work here otherwise how would they know the name of ALL the staff including kitchen staff???
anonymous - 11 Aug 2006 18:36
i think lloyds is a great place for the younger generation at night and is great for families and theolder generation during the day. The bar staff are freindly! The managers are nice and friendly. Ian, Mort Jill, Liz , Matt and the staff ben K (fitben) rich dan gee toni vanessa kayleigh johnny wayne matt (kitchen) louielee steve tyhe dj thursday nites andf lee the dj friday and saturdays! I think its great so watever to anyone who disagrees getalife and stop going if its that bad!
anonymous - 11 Aug 2006 18:32
Haven't eaten in here before and won't again. waited 45 minutes for food. My friend could have bounced his steak on the floor it was so well done even though he asked for medium. We ordered our food together and i finished my food before my friends came out probably due to the fact that the waiter wandered around the pub for about 10 minutes with the food. We gave our table number when we ordered yet he still walked past our table twice!! And no apology!
Christine behind the bar was quality though.

anonymous - 25 Jul 2006 12:58
I don't mind bar this bar at al. For those wjo are unfamiliar with Lylods bars, they're part of the Wetherspoons chain, but with added music. So, the drink selection is fairly good and cheap. The place can get a little too packed and rowdy at weekends, but have'nt witnessed any trouble and I always have a laugh here.
HTM69 - 26 May 2006 20:18
cloth, table, wipe.
how difficult is that??????
anonymous - 26 May 2006 12:20
ABSO ..... Shit hole.... beer is cheap and so are the patrons...... NASTY PLACE......... should be closed....
Bedlam1 - 27 Feb 2006 21:00
Went there with a mate last month. I havent been there since it opened a few years back so i wasnt expecting much.

Suprisingly, it wasnt too bad. Quite cheap drink wise and reasonably atmospheric about 5pm when we got there. Definately a wide age range of people there (ranging from some girls who looked far too young to red face old people who've been on the lash all day)

A nice view of a very empty Yates as well.

minus points for having the usual bloke in the toilet "freshen up boss??"

Oh, go away!

Nochavsinmypub - 7 Feb 2006 13:30
I think that lloyds is a great pub full of people my age 18 and over in the evening and full of an older generation of a day which i think is great, the food is great the service is nice friendly bar staff well not all but most, i always go in with my m8;s on a friday and saturday nite and we really enjoy it so i would rate the pub 10 out of 10 and i would recommend it any day.
anonymous - 31 Dec 2005 16:54
to cafc, You really don't like anywhere in bexleyheath do you! you slag off just about all the pubs in the area. Why do you drink in Bexleyheath at all? I'm really interested in whether you like anywhere? Where would you recommend?
anonymous - 16 Dec 2005 01:12
What are you talking about cafc, surely you manage a bar down the other end to come up with comments like that. This place got hardly any scum in at all.

alchy - 29 Nov 2005 14:43
Scum of bexleyheath this place. thats why its shoved in the corner up the scum bag end of bexleyheath where all the scum hand around being scum bags. Keep it there , keep your s**t pub where it is. scum
cafc - 24 Nov 2005 15:50
Iv never tasted the grub in here, and never been in there during the day, but for a an evening beer i like it. plenty of tasty birds, hardly any chavs, decent bouncers on the door wich is prob. why iv never seen any aggro in there.

Would reccomend the place
alchy - 27 Oct 2005 17:34
I feel that Lloyds has gone down hill under the new management because i went in their today woth my family and they were advertising a sunday raost but they didnt have an to give to the customers that wanted to buy them annd they didnt have the right food brought out to you when you did finally get ur food. Also for a family orientated pub they don't actually have any facilities for changing babies or young children within the ladies toilets or the men for that matter. It is a nice place to have a drink as a youngster or an older drinker but for familes it isn't and isn't very good with food anymore. Soory but i would rate today as a 5 out of 10
anonymous - 23 Oct 2005 20:58
well maybe you lot should try and go there now the door men are the best if there is a fight they sort it out stright away they check all id to mak sue no young kids do get in and they have a good joke with you ho and the small doorman is so cool he all ways chats to me ann every one and the pub is clean now so may be this needs up dated a bit
bigboy20 - 23 Aug 2005 21:54
I was in there the other day and a customer had to go out and tell the doormen there was a fight going on inside! Great security!!!!!!! Go elsewhere if i were you.
anonymous - 23 Jul 2005 18:11
complete and utter doggy poo. Please please bexleyheath - get a decent pub. No wonder everyone living there is a chav. You feel like you have to be a chav when your in a bar where your feet stick to carpets - probobly from spit rather than chewing gum - and i actually saw a bloke standing in the middle of the pub with his hand up a girls jaxi. She was barely 15. SORT IT OUT.
anonymous - 3 Mar 2005 14:06
i personally like lloyds u got great food cheep drinks good music and its right in the center of town so not far to travel and if you get bored its easy to get transport elsewhere!
Tammy - 20 Sep 2004 13:23
Mid week is generally ok..well priced food and drink.
At the weekend best avoided; your feet will stick to the carpet from the previous evening swill crowd's spillages and the service is awfull.
Robbie - 17 Jul 2004 15:52
With Lloyds what you see is what you get. If you want to drink at cheap prices before going on elsewhere then what do you expect for the money your paying on booze? Saying that it is very young on a Fri and Sat night.I personally prefer a Thursday or Sunday night(when the youngsters tend to be at home as they have school or college in the morning) It's a great place to get p***ed and do embarrasing things because no one pays a blind bit of notice! To be honest i'll often go in there, have one drink and if it's a bit young or lairy that night will go elsewhere to continue my drinking!
The Bexleyheath Fairy - 29 Apr 2004 17:03
The place is pathetic!!!! Wheres the fit bar staff! what the one that walks around and think he is good gift to women and u can see that the boy has had to many sunbeds! oh! as for the boys well u've just got too laugh!! food comes out so quick that u know its been microwaved! bouncer are cool know, but they need to be more stricked with the iding!
anonymous - 20 Apr 2004 18:20
They let 16 year olds into Lloyds cos they know that they will be 18 by the time they get served on a friday night. Too busy and too loud with more attitude than a blazin squad gig. Anyone just out for a laugh and a pint should go elsewhere, preferrably not anywhere near Bexleyheath. But if it's fights and aggro you're after then it's your kinda town.
Chris - 11 Apr 2004 17:30
Is it true Lloyds is getting refurbished in the next few weeks??
anonymous - 24 Mar 2004 16:00
I work in the pub as well so i also know what its like day in and out. Granted there can be trouble but there is not as much as people make out. During the day it is full of retired or work shy gentleman and people coming in and out for lunch. The atmosphere is friendly and most of my fellow barstaff are friendly. During the early evening there are the workers and the under age kids that try to get served before the door staff arrive. Although we do i.d everyone that we suspect to be under age there is a time restraints as its a busy bar and the frequent use of fake i'd including driving licences. Of an evening there are customers who behave stupidly and end up in arguments but the door staff are good and dont normally have any major trouble. of a weekend the pub gets very busy and food can take as long as an hour to reach the table and plates are left behind. This is mainly due to the under staffing leaving three people to take food out to over 100 tables bring dirt plates back, collect glasses wipe tables and deal with complaints. But people dont seem to mind as its busy every week. The food itself is tasty but is either microwaved fried or grilled. The salads are fresh and hygene is excellent. Overall it is a busy pub that serves a cross section of the community. People must like it because there are loads of regulars young and old. The only stipulation i have is with children. The pub is not the best place to bring young children for a meal, the atmosphere is not suitable and for some strange reason the music does not cover over rude words. overall the pub is friendly and does alot of business. by the way the carpet is cleaned monthly just imagine wat is spilt over it on a day to day basis

anonymous - 28 Feb 2004 02:17
all these comments are true (and i shud know,i work there!). its a good laugh to drink there and its even more of a good laugh to work there.
but if your looking for class, youve come to the wrong place (in fact, youve come to the wrong town!)
the fit barman - 24 Jan 2004 18:55
Wetherspoons prices, so nice and cheap, especially Monday Clubs btu unfortunately the amouint of trouble there is appalling. Stabbings, beatings, muggings are all commonplace in or near what should be a nice place.
Aaron - 9 Jan 2004 01:27
its a gud laugh cheap and load of nice looking girls
dan - 23 Dec 2003 19:12
Been there a few times now and its the same every time. Full of prats who give you that 'what you looking at' glare, they think their all that and a bag of chips. Got news for you tarts........YOUR NOT!
Although the bar staff are friendly and it doesn't take long to get served which is always good.
If anyone does go in there who's over 18, beware if you pull your probably gonna have to drive him or her to school on monday.....
Maxine - 4 Dec 2003 17:08
This pub is ridiculous, during the day its full of old folks looking for cheap cups of wetherpsoons tea and at night is full of boy racers who seem to enjoy the fact that the (crap) music is so loud that you cant hear what anyone says but judging by the looks of the people in there they arent misising out on much.
The carpet is dirty and aged which is good going seeing though it's been there for only a year or so; the deco is like a bad college canteen and the beer is absolutely awful. Avoid unless the gel on your hair is more than the weight of your brain in which case knock yourself out.
ron - 2 Dec 2003 16:33
Monday nights r good as the drinks are cheap, fri and sat u get the local school kids in there although they are getting better with checking ID now.
Sam - 28 Nov 2003 10:37
I think Lloyds is great, it gets too packed tho on a fri and sat night which proves that it still has something-if u wanna slate it then don't go-simple!

Its the best place to go with a group of you, if theres only two of u it's kinda crap!

The bouncers are alright once they get to know you tho and the staff are not TOO bad considering how busy it gets. Been there during the day and i got id'd but the staff was alright about it (im 19) and didnt say it in a nasty way!

You gotta go at least once, if u don't like crowds or pubs which r too quiet this place is great on a thursday night!
only me - 15 Nov 2003 16:14
Since they built Lloyds and Yates! Bexleyheath has gone right down hill. I speak for all mid tweny folk! I remember the good old days! Bleedin dangerous in Lloyds! Stop the groups of boys going in there! Two pints and they think they are big time!
anony - 14 Nov 2003 14:20
Full of kids! But better than that crap hole Yates opposite that play moody garage that attracts moody wannabees!
anti bouncer - 14 Nov 2003 14:18
Heh heh some comments r true but it's still fun. Not really a place to pull a random stranger but you can always pull the fit bloke u work with who you just happen to bump into...one problem-why is the ladies toilets so far away from the smoking area?
Me! - 23 Sep 2003 16:19
Wicked Pub, bouncers are diamond and the staff are friendly.
Friday night is a good laugh, cheap drink, plenty of women well worth going
alex - 19 Sep 2003 15:51
bouncers are great look after the staff really well good place to drink had some trouble but its all calming down a lot now. had some bad press but compared to some places round here its much better!!
jugs - 31 Aug 2003 18:56
Lloyds is excellent. I live in Bexleyheath and I go to Lloyds every Sunday for lunch and some Friday or Sunday nights. The menu gives a good variety of foods to eat and the deals make it cheaper than your usual pub food. The staff are very friendly and even the bouncers (Friday/Saturday/Sunday night) are reasonably nice. The toilets are very very clean and they are worth taking a look at. Very...different! They are cosy and warm, very un-pub like. They even have a table and chairs in there! It does get very busy, and there are occassional fights, but doesn't everywhere get that? And if you really hate the place, try Yates over the road!
Vikki - 28 Aug 2003 10:41
Like most high street juicers, Obviously quieter during the day and not so many youngsters. But like the other whetherspoons up the road the high tunover always seems to make it dirty and smelly. lots of brickies and plasterers from 2pm till 6.00pm weekdays.wouldnt bargepole it evenings or weekends but then Im no youngster.have sen lairy burberyy yoofs get a smack from brickies at the 6pm/7pm changeover which brought a smile.
Alfie - 30 Jul 2003 16:34
I went to Lloyds for the first time yesterday and actuyally thought it was really nice in there. There's plenty of room, the drinks are reasonably priced and there's a massive choice and the music was good. I don't think there's anything bad to say about it.
anonymous - 30 Jul 2003 11:45
Its a cheap place to drink but full of kids. How can my cousin be IDed for FOOD when 15, 16, 17 yr olds are in there constantly on Fri Sat and Sundays. It don't make sense!
anonymous - 25 Jul 2003 20:13
although this pub has a lot of bad comments compared to the rest of the pubs in the area it's quite good so don't be put off by all the people that are just bitter cause they got turned away!!
anonymous - 17 Jul 2003 14:42
i work there, most of the comments are completely true, it is full of kids, burberry wearing muppets, and clone like birds, but it is well cheap, music has got pretty funky recently and the staff r great!
anon - 8 Jul 2003 16:51
wetherspoons has just got better. Same cheap drinks and food with the added benefit of fantastic music. Lloyds no 1 is the dogs b*****ks. Oh yea and not a millwall shirt in sight. Not that anyone would want to wear a millwall shirt anyway. Tip burburry is for caravan loving pikeys.
lurch - 29 Jun 2003 19:19
If you have a school bus pass you are welcome; in other words bit young but the girls are worth going to see! 8/10
George Blunt - 10 Jun 2003 16:20
Not a bad place to go, considering it is in Bexleyheath. Definitely have to agree with Amy and the girls, Mike is well fit! Definitely work a peak girlies.
The OHM peeps - 7 Jun 2003 15:47
duh to billy no arms there isn't a dj there plum!! probably why you can mix better than him. but just cause it hasn't got a dj doesn't mean it's not good just means that you hear non stop music instead of some tw*t doing shout outs
jugs - 6 Jun 2003 15:03
quality pub, not a millwall shirt in sight so happy harry is a blatent liar!! i should know i spend most my evenings there!! bouncers are quality staff are fab!!
jugs - 6 Jun 2003 14:59
best pub around, the staff are great especially mike, girls you should all go even just to see how fit he is.Cheap fun and WKD.
amy and the girls - 2 Jun 2003 11:58
Best pub in the area. Good prices. If you don't like crowds avoid fri and sat nights (too many wannabe's in designer crap). Have a cheap meal here before going to the cinema.
Top marks for the staff and managers.
Dickie - 27 May 2003 16:18
I disagree with the cocky comments bout this place, it's a bloody great place to be on a friday and sat nite and crammed full of fit blokes and good music.
anonymous - 20 May 2003 18:19
Full of little pricks who think they are bigger and tougher than they actually are. Full of cloned girls and boys who wear Burberry.
Someone who dresses for themself - 16 Jan 2003 09:50
good place to see a fight. It passes the time when you are waiting to get served at the bar.
Mr Jolly - 26 Dec 2002 20:54
Not bad place but needs to lose the crap Dj. Ive got no arms and i can mix better than him.
Billy no arms! - 31 Oct 2002 08:12
excellent place to meet and greet
katy - 30 Oct 2002 15:58
Nice during the day!! Run for your life at night!!! Full of toss pots and bottle munching muppets!!! "You looking at my bird mate" is sound you hear when your f**ked!! DONT GO!!!
