I've only been here once, that is probably enough. I must admit, I didn't spend too long in here so can't really comment on the staff etc, but some of the people in there just made me think that it's a shame guns are illegal.

Turned up, mixed group of us, no queue, but the bouncer made us wait outside. We believed it was a one-in-one-out job, but in the time we waited, not a single person left, then he decided we could come in - I suppose he was seeing if we were p!ssed enough to soil ourselves. During the one drink I had in there, saw a Russian bloke at the bar (which was packed and with no music - odd) shouting about what c*nts English people are, then saw a bloke with a broken arm sitting on his own stand up to get something out of his pocket, the minute he did some skanky little goth girl jumped in his seat, called her mates over then refused to move, saying he had got up so the seat was hers now.

So I went home and watched some nonsense with Steven Segal in, even that was better. Bah!!!

OK brews, and a good atmostphere, but let down by the barman/manager who thinks its acceptable to ignore and flip V signs at customers who ask if the bar is still open. Regardless of the fact that the barmaid at the other end of the bar is still serving. Shoddy, unprofessional and just needlessly rude.

This place use to be great for a late drink but they seem to have a new management style. You are asked at the door if you are drunk (what are you going to say - yes?) and once you are in, you are stopped from having any of sort of fun. Every two minutes the bouncher kept coming up to us to ask if we could keep the noise down. We were rather a large group but not rowdy by any means. I am not sure I would now go back again.

This place is great for a session in. There's even a decent fast food place next door, some crazy couscous chicken tortilla wrap thing. Goes down a storm after 12 pints.

Have been wanting to give this place a try for a while, since I was reasonably impressed by the Idle Hour in Barnes. First up, this is completely different in terms of atmosphere: it's quite noisy compared to the original. The front bar is ok, and the decor is fine, if slightly unoriginal. But overall the bar is nothing special, and as noted there are no draught ales. But (there's always a but), the service in the restaurant area is dreadful. I realise that Saturday nights are busy, but leaving customers to stare at a menu for 40 minutes is just plain shoddy. Then there's the quality of the food itself. While my friends enjoyed their koftas and other nibbly bites, my thai coconut chicken soup was thin and watery, and the noodles looked like the variety normally served up with the aid of a kettle. Unimpressive, especially for a tenner. Finally, how can any establishment in this day and age expect to get away with watering down as distinctive-tasting a brew as Hoegaarden? Disappointing.

No atmos, only lager on tap, & got charged 9.50 for a "tower melt" consisting of two mushrooms, half a dozen chunks of veg and a spot of melted cheese. They're taking the p*ss.

To clarify for the pedantic: its excellent at what it does "Organic-bistro bar". It's just not a "beery"-type place.

OK, this place is great. It gets a full score of 10/10 even though it has some major major drawbacks. Putney is very lucky to have this place.

It's a sort of organic pub-bistro really, not a trad boozer and definitely not for lovers of real ale. Drinkers and foodies range people aged 25-45.

First the bad bits ... it's not cheap!!! Wines are overpriced and selection is weak. I tried a Chilean White which was absolutely rubbish, though the Italian Pinot Grigio was really excellent. Usual selection of slightly incoherent Eastern Europeans serving, although the short blonde one is a total babe and could charm the pants off Mr Scrooge.

Now the good bits: Really Comfortable! Nice chairs - leather sofas, wooden tables. It's a good place to hang out. The food is good. The customers are polite. Generally, it is many times better than all those shabby all-bar-ones and dreadful crappy pubs near Clapham.

BTW The on-tap beer selection is awful for real ale. Though the owner claims he'll order in and stock any beer bottle you request if he doesn't currently stock it. I might test this out one day by asking for Palmers!

Basically, if you can afford it and are happy drinking wine/cider/bottled beers, it is totally cool hangout. :)

Had my birthday here with about 25 mates and it was perfect. Starts out quiet with the back dining area full (I hear food is great), and by about 10pm it starts to get a good bar-vibe to it. Open til 2am, and gets quite busy up until the death. Careful not to order the BitBurger Drive. Great venue, would recommend if you're looking for somewhere less pretentious than Rocket / Thai Sq. Crowd 25yr plus.

Really enjoyed a night in here. Hadn't expected much as I don't normally go out in Putney, but had good night out. The new cocktail waiter is fantastic, would happily go and watch him work all night, (and drink the cocktails all night). Oh and the manager was great too.

HURRAH - finally a place in Putney where you can drink on a Friday night that is not full of 18 year olds, looking to get drunk and leery and have a bit of a fight. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

very friendly manager, great food and nice for a quiet evening with a bottle of wine.

Very civilised ... nice place for a gentle start to the evening but if you're not eating then there are livelier places, especially for a Fri or Sat night out.

Non-pretentious and a friendly atmosphere make this a great place to while away a bottle of wine with someone.

Food was also excellent and not over priced.

Friendly, helpful staff, fantastic food, good wine list, nice atmosphere. Still generally pretty quiet, but then Bierex (the premises' previous incarnation) never really took off. It's still early days though. One of Putney's more quality venues.

Barman was very friendly+pretty good choice of drinks, sadly the first table we sat at was covered in ants and the gents left a lot to be desired...Having said that it's one of the better places in Putney.

Still hasn't got going yet. Went there a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed after hearing such good things about the Barnes branch. The staff were rather lifeless and the food was good but not exceptional. Deserves to be much better.

Hasn't really got going yet.
If it's as good as the Barnes one then it'll be a bonus for Putney.
