user reviews of the Seven Stars, Kingsbridge

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Booked for a family meal in early December - ended up being there for 3+ hours due to slow service. Food was fine, but at gastro/foodie pub prices the value was below par. Whilst there were 8 plus 2 small kids in our party, an hour between courses is rubbish frankly.

The staff are super pleasant however, but no apology or awareness of the time we had been in the pub was apparent.

Ales were all St Austell brewery unfortunately, except Jail Ale which i had - well kept i will admit.

BTW I ordered the half pheasant for main course - it came looking a bit fried... and tasted as such - weird and massively underwhelming overall.

We sat outside here on a lovely sunny day and it was very pleasant.
Pint of lager was good too.

A good pub in a reasonable location.
In my opinion the beer garden is the best thing about this pub as the interior is all a bit modern for me.
Drinks were ok as well.

Will agree with the below comments that The Seven Stars is one of the better pub alternatives situated near to the Kingsbridge quayside. What was originally a square stone walled pub has been sympathetically extended with a modern conservatory providing a larger dining area in modern dcor to the primary one in the main pub building. There is a pleasant bar area with comfortable seating, and a decent outside drinking area, which catches the afternoon sun. The beers on at the time of my visit were the usual Devon / Cornwall offerings of Otter Bitter, Sharps Doombar and St Austells Tribute and all seemed well kept.

Definitely makes a good alternative the other out and out boozers in Kingsbridge. Good service and a decent selection of local beers.

The food is pretty good too and it's the only place we found in the area that serves food all day. Nice seated area outside as well.

Excellent pub with recently extended restaurant area
Unusually high quality food for this type of venue
Fast and pleasant service.
Have really enjoyed our last four visits

decent alternative to the choice of rugby and 'local locals' pubs

One of the better pubs in Kingsbridge - not old-man-ish like many of the others. Good food and a decent pint.

We've been there a couple of times and we haven't been disappointed - once they lost our food order, so lunch took a long time (over an hour) to arrive, but the manager refunded our money so fair enough (free lunch!).
