Lovely old character pub in the historic town centre, surprisingly quiet on a Friday. Choice of four ales - nothing particularly unusual but all very acceptable.

I'm surprised this isn't in the Good Beer Guide.... plenty of historical interest - with it being a C16th coaching house. A proper pub.

Four real ales on - two very local, a Tribute but I went for one of may favourites - Harveys Sussex Best. I would say its as good as I have had anywhere.

Very impressed.

Good town pub that can be accessed from the High Street or London Road. A bit worn round the edges though that seems to be from being well patronised. Ale quality was good and there were a few local brews on offer.

Delighted to see The Chequers in Sevenoaks back in the CAMRA 'Good Beer Guide - 2013' - probably because they always serve good beer!

I used to be a frequent visitor at this establishment in my youth, but I hadn't been back for a good many years before dropping in recently. Pleased to find the place relatively untouched by the passing years. As other reviewers have remarked, a pleasant atmosphere and some good beer. Being so centrally placed for the town centre, it's well worth a visit.

Great town pub with a very good selection of real ales and all well kept.

The building alone is worth a visit! Long may this pub exist!

Very historic (16th-century) inn in a prime location where the High Street and London Road join. The layout has been opened out at some stage, but the low ceilings (with hops strung out along the beams) and real fire provide inside exactly what the exterior suggests. Nine handpumps, but with four clips doubled-up on my last visit, leaving a choice of four real ales (Black Sheep, Tribute, Abbot and Hobgoblin) and a draught cider (Old Rosie).

My favourite pub in Sevenoaks town centre. Usually 3 or 4 real ales to choose from, not too busy most of the time, and atmosphere friendly and relaxed.

Nice ales including Black Sheep and London Pride, also there seems to be a nice atmosphere in here. Had Sunday lunch there one week, but it proved to be a little disappointing, tough beef and yorkshire pudding that hadn't even risen!

This has improved a lot since the smoking ban as it used to suffer quite badly . They usually have a good range of ales on though a lot of the staff don't really seem to know much about it.Good range of wines , nice atmosphere when the fire is going . Have not tried the food yet .Some interesting new furniture creating different areas within the pub.
Sevenoaks has suffered the closure of several local licenced premises over the last few years and it is good to see this place staying open as a non chain , non themed , clean proper pub .

Good range of beers and friendly bar staff. Nice when they have the wood fire lit in winter.

Apparently about to hand over to 'Punch' on Wednesday 29/11/06, so my visist there this week while playing the the theatre opposite have been disappointing. Only one beer on for two nights (Tetley's Draught), but now have a couple of others put on again. Kitchen has been closed for a while. Will visit again next show I do, but not hopeful that the pub will be as good or as welcoming as before

Food in here is very good with a wide range of real ale. Not too bad.

Excellent beer and a good atmosphere. Didn't eat but the menu looked reasonably priced with all main courses around a fiver. Nice non-smoking area which was pleasant to sit in.

Lovely pub this one. Great open Fire, big sofas and very friendly bar staff. Also very reasonably priced.
There was also nice background music.

Looks old, but that's because it is. I tend to put all my pound coins into the SWP whenever I'm there.
