Still closed and now a rather large private house.

Currently closed. Doesn't look as if it will re-open any time soon.

If it wasn't for the racks great value food, lots of Sparsholt students would have starved to death long ago. Football, food, juke box, and pool table - cannae beat it.

Just made our second visit since the new landlords have taken over. The Rack and Manger is in a good location between Winchester and Stockbridge, so makes a nice meeting place for people from different directions. Under the previous landlord it had reached the point where it was definitely on our 'avoid' list, but that has now changed completely. We were made very welcome on our first visit, and now having returned for a second time we were recognised and greeted as 'regulars'. The menu is proper traditional pub food, with a pie of the week, sausage of the week, grills, chilli, ham & eggs, jacket potatoes, and even an all day breakfast. Food is freshly cooked to a high standard and served piping hot. We think it is very good value taking into account quality and portion size. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis, and are sure that this will soon become the busy and thriving pub that it used to be a few years ago.

The Rack & Manger is now under new management as of June 2008 and now serves great pub food at very reasonable prices. Big menu with a great selection of dishes and a frequently changing specials board. A very warm welcome from Andy, Sharon and family. Very nice to find a REAL pub for a change with good beer. Kepp up the good work!

We went for Sunday lunch having booked in advance. Despite the restaurant being fairly quiet service was very slow and it was over an hour before we received our main course. They only had one vegetarian option (veggy lasagne)and when this arrived it only had a single sheet of pasta and was swimming in grease! The staff were very friendly though and offered us a free round of drinks for the inconvenience. I don't think we'll be going back.

Nice, although fairly run-of-the mill gastro-ish pub. Currently this is one of those Greene King pubs, which I think are pretty respectable in general; The Rack and Manger is no exception to this. The beer was good if you like Greene King's offerings, which I do, and the food was tasty and came in generous portions. There is a separate section out the back for the locals to drink, make of that what you will. Overall though, no complaints.

this pub was very poor the last time we visited back in october 2004.it has recently been taken over by a lady called jacqui wadham and has a marvelous atmosphere and also fantastic food and so cheap ! and home made for a change !!!and is excellent for the children and i now visit this pub every weekend with the whole of our family and we are welcomed very much by all of the very hard working staff.
