A good pint of Harevy's Armada last Monday afternoon - refreshing after an afternoon strolling, browsing up at the Rother Valley Railway shop, and then in the second hand bookshop - very dry work!

A bit modern when compared to the other pubs I visited in the village...
Younger clientele too.

This pub has had a total refurb since we last visited late in 2008, and we felt it worked for the better as the was no need for locals to be squeezing through the diners to go for a ciggie. The young barman did direct our attention to the new bar and was very eager to please, and did inform us it was one of the only establishments open in the village and the only one serving food on a Monday Night which seemed amazing, but commonplace as the most of the tables around us were filled.

As we sat and ate, the menu had vastly changed and had more of a pub friendly food feel. Although the kitchen service was slow, the young kitchen girl was polite, with the barman helping out where he could. Steak was cooked perfectly, and Hunter's Chicken was lovely, even though we required a brief description of what a hunter's chicken was!

Wine choice was limited to two top selling "drinkable" white wines, Pinot Grigio and Sav Blanc.
One simple Merlot and one simple Rose.
Harveys was excellent, well kept and worthy of the (out of date) Cask Marque Award.

All in all, we had a very enjoyable evening with delicious food at a very resonable price, in a country pub that has seeming lost it's football support!

Absolutly amazing food!! the chef is very nice!

But my visit was spoilt by the landlady who I just have to say is one miserable cow! She twice went out for a Cigarette when there was people including myself waiting to be served a drink. She was not very friendly at all and I felt that a lot of the locals I spoke with had the same opinion!

Very friendly. Good Harveys beer. An enjoyable, reasonably priced lunch.

Brilliant pub. Harveys beers, decent basic food, real fire, friendly local and two really cool dogs.

Sorry I have calling this the Seven Sisters. This is a sporty pub. I was made welcome although upset a local because I do not support spurs. Beer was ok and the pub seems to be a lot cleaner than the last time I visited. Not a bad place, but if you don't like football keep out.

They look after the beer in this pub, and its a genuine "local". Great atmosphere on occasions when all of your mates are in there, although this might seem a little intimidating to visitors. lean on the bar and talk to people and you will be surprised how friendly they are despite their sometimes ferral looks, tattoos and football shirts.

Its just changed/changing hands, so farewell to Foxy and Lisa, and good luck and welcome to the new couple!

Watch this space for an improvement in the menu too, although the Sunday roasts have always been extremely popular - jam packed and sold out all the time!

My visit was ruined by seeing the local dog (four legged that is)sitting at a table and eating off a punters plate.

There was a reasonably friendly welcome in what is a very 'local' pub this bank holiday weekend. The Harveys Sussex Best Bitter was well-kept and really good and refreshing. Harveys London Olympia was also in good condition - though not really to my taste.
