One of the better pubs in St. Ives and does very good lunches.

I'm not normally a fan of St. Austell pubs, but I did like this one.

8/10

Quite a large room , the accent seems to be on food , but the beer was in good condition
quite a decent place

After my visit last Sunday lunchtime, I can agree with the previous reviews, unable to get lunch, as FULLY BOOKED OUT, and this is in the winter.

Cannot comment on the ales, as I settled for a soft drink.

Our Callum was made very wlcome, so 8 woofs of approval.

Recent reviewers have been accurate - this is now a pretty upmarket establishment serving a good pint of Tribute at 3.20. Good selection of papers to read - think Sunday Telegraph rather than the Sun on Sunday.

Whether youre after a quiet pint with the Sunday papers, a nice place to take the in-laws for lunch or youve spent the morning traipsing around the Tate with the wife and hungry kids and need to find somewhere decent to eat, this has got to be the place to go. Dont bother pounding the streets for hours, youll find none better. We came here for lunch only a day or so after it had re-opened and the food (and service) was excellent and very reasonably priced. Apparently they've got rooms too and based on what weve seen; theyve got to be worth a look. Thoroughly recommended.

My stay in St Ives was enhanced by my visits to this newly refirbished gastropub.
Great food, particularly enjoyed the Sunday Roast with pudding for 10, good beer and wines.Very relaxing and friendly service, loved the decor.

This pub has recently had a thorough change of style. Well worth a visit by anyone interested in good quality, but inexpensive, home made food to go with the usual St Austell's (no longer St Awful's) good quality drinks. Do hope it attracts good support - St Ives can do with some better quality inns.

Just had another makeover! One of the big screens has gone and the decor is now rather minimalist, with lots of Farrow and Ball type paint colours. The pool table has gone as well. The ale selection as always is a bit limited (Tribute and HSD) but was on good form. Seems to be a bit more pricey as well - I was charged over thirteen quid for two Tributes and two pints of San MIguel Not a bad place by any means, but one for a couple rather than a whole session.

Right in the middle of St Ives. Very comfortable lounge bar type of place with a selection of comfy seats. 4 ales on tap all from St Austell - not surprising as it is a St Austell house. I tried the Honey Monster as it is new to me - it was not very nice - in fact it tasted more of grapefruit than honey! My mate's Tribute was fine though so more fool me for experimenting. Barmaid had obviously paid little attention to the Brewerey "SMILE" programme for welcoming customers. Mind you it wasn't just us she was a misery with everyone who came in. No sport on when we were in but a faintly disconcerting combination of music videos with sound down and different music being played over the pub sound system. Rates a 4 loses 1 for my beer and the barmaid!

Along the trail of pubs that I wonder along from time to time you come across 'the package' as I like to call it. Good food and a couple good ales. Proper Job and Tribute from St Austell brewery are a couple of fine drops. Friendly staff with the usual sports in the background. I didn;t try the pie but by the looks of it its one hell of a feast.

When here with my brother a week or so ago. Although its a tied pub and only offers Tribute on draft it has a good variety of other lagers and ciders on the front bar. Staff very pleasant and helpful but best of all the Guinness, my personal favourite, was the best i have ever tasted - bitter, sweet and spicy and for that it gets a double thumbs up!! - Oh, great atmosphere here too when sports were on - will be coming back during the world cup for a glass of the black stuff - great

Lacks atmosphere and selection of ales although Tribute wasn't a bad pint. Food not very good. Give it a miss.

Gave this place another go the other day - the place has gone downhill fast. One ale on 3 taps - Tribute, woopydoo, and the atmosphere was cack.

One cockney wideboy with short man syndrome (he may have even been the manager) swearing his head off all afternoon, without a word of warning from the barstaff who were hunting for bargains on ebay. Toilets freezing, dirty and absolutely stinking.

I won't be back.

hadn't been in here for a couple of years and was disappointed to se that the range of ales was limited to an i.p.a. and tribute, the menu seemed limited as well, so we went to the union up the road

Average pint and food pretty basic. The place to go if you want football blaring out on a million TVs, but avoid it if this is not your scene.

One final point - THE TOILETS ABSOLUTELY HONK - buy some blach!

According to a member of staff we spoke to there has recently been a change of owner and there is some planned work in the pub due to take place shortly. Food and drink in good order.
