This pub has undergone a lot of changes in recent months. New chefs, staff training, being tidied up, more ales and wine selection, new menus! The list goes on. I am a local (live 5 mins away!), I go on Mondays to the quiz and Wednesdays to the open mic but theres loads of other stuff going on too.

I would recommended going back and giving it a go if you were put off in the past. Pretty much whatever night you turn up on there is something going on.

Let me know if any of you guys go back and tell me what you think now.

Visited this pub yesterday (1st June 2014). Don't know Burnley very well but we liked the look of the building. We had a drink outside overlooking the canal and it was very pleasant. We then decided to go to the ladies (wish we hadn't ).

The first toilet had no seat at all and was dirty. The second toilet was covered in faeces. The third toilet was dirty (the stains in the bowel were ingrained so had not seen any bleach for weeks) but I just had to go. Most upsetting!!!!!!

Did not want to make a fuss as we were with friends, so decided to have my say on this site. Consequently we will never visit this pub again. It was fairly empty when we arrived so it can't be said that they were rushed off their feet or there was an over abundance of users.

Did not enjoy my meal as I was so wound up. If that is the state of their toilets, then what must the kitchens be like????

Shame on you Inn on the Wharf!!

I always thought this pub was ok until recently when myself and my partner visited on Saturday 2nd June as it was my birthday. We bought a drink and went outside to the canal chatting to some people on the barge. We then went inside to order some food, which was two soups and two main courses and paid 18. The barman came with the soups, stretched over with mine and put my partners down spilling half a bowl of soup on my partners leg. His leg was stinging and tomato soup on his jeans. I went to the manager to tell him what had happened, just to be told accidents do happen. Fair enough they do but the manager never even came across to see us or offer anything in the way of an apology or compensation or to see how we were. I asked for the money back and they carried on serving, then the barman brought the money, 17.50 as i paid 18. We left in disgust with no meal and very annoyed at the attitude of a manager towards his customers. It altogether spoilt my birthday.

Contrary to my last post, which was honest about my visit on that occasion, I have been twice since, the first being a wedding where lots of ale was drunk, the IPA was very good as well as a couple of others which were just fine, chap behind the bar who served me was knowledgeable. Not the cheapest drinking in town but it is a town center pub and a nice old building at that.

tried 2 ales, both barely drinkeable, food is the over-priced pub chain type stuff. Not worth a visit in my opinion.

A decent pub with friendly staff and well kept cask ales.

Very nice pub, and friendly bar staff. Meals are nice although usually dont start serving untill after 3p.m. Excellent during the summer as you can sit by the canal, in the warm weather watching the cyclists and barges go past! Usually get a couple of away football fans in, if Burnley are home, as it one of the safest pubs in town for them.
