Did'nt really like this place. My girlfriend and i just had the one here and sat in the courtyard outside.
Riverside inn down the road is better.

5/10

Very pleasant St Austell pub with choice of 3 ales as well as usual lager, cider etc. Beer very well kept and attentive staff with a bit of personality to them . Bit of a barn of a place which needs alot of people in it to give it atmosphere but you could do much worse. rates a 7.....

The restaurant area was quite busy on the Friday lunchtime we visited and we enjoyed a couple of hot sandwiches. The staff were very friendly and the local OAPs were enjoying discount meals. Real ales are from the St Austell range. They had IPA, Tribute and HSD. The cider was Cornish Rattler. Pleasant pub with a handy and spacious car park at the rear.

It's a hotel too, or a pub with rooms. Anyway, the bar always seems a bit souless, the beers are not the best in town. Although Bovey has a number of pubs, most of them are unexceptional except in their blandness. This is a typical example of the genre.

The new owners Steve and Pauline were extremely welcoming and did all they could to make my two week stay comfortable and enjoyable. My room appeared to have new carpets and decor, very clean. The hotel has a private car park. The food was excellent.Highly recommended.

Going downhill rapidly. ALL of the old staff have now left. The telly's gone, there's no live music, they've dumbed down the restaurant menu, they managed to redecorate-out all the atmosphere and the regulars have deserted it in droves. A real shame.

Comedy Dave and most of the old crew have moved on, although in Dave's case it's mostly to the other side of the bar. Hasn't been any live music since Xmas that I can remember - hopefully they will bring it back. Still showing as much rugby as ever - don't expect football if even the most obscure rugby team is being televised.
Beer and atmosphere untouched by change of management.

Excellent friendly pub and Hotel, barstaff friendly and 'Comedy Dave' the barman who never seems to go home has a great collection of jokes that seem to go on and on. Live Music most weekends and a great atmoshere when Rugby is on the Big Screen, Restaurant separate from the main bars offers greta food!
