Average at best. Went in on quiz night and had to sit on a stool at the bar so as not to take up a table. Fair enough I suppose but not very welcoming.

The Cock & Bottle was fairly quiet on my Sunday evening visit. The landlord was quite friendly. He was serving some particularly hot pork scratchings to one guy seemingly taking a challenge that he could eat the lot. The main bar area is quite large. There is a snug at the front and an outdoor area at the side that stretches to the rear. Ale selection was reasonably good - Black Sheep Best Bitter, Elland Beyond The Pale, Settle No. 1 Nine Standards & Wychwood Hobgoblin. A fairly decent start to my Skipton crawl.

It's OK for a visit on a pub crawl, but I doubt I'd stay here all night. Some decent beers and good old fashioned feel to it. Not terribly busy though for a Saturday night.

This can be a good place to go. 17C interior, usually well presented wide selction of Real Ales. BUT the beer is very expensive (2.50 for my pint of Wharfedale 4.5% today) and one or two of the staff have a tendency to give less than a full pint, even allowing for the northern preference (so called) for a head. As pub it's pleasantly old-fashioned, two coal fires in winter, usually friendly staff. Worth a visit, not a stay, I think.

A fairly small pub very close to Skipton's town centre. They had three real ales on cask. The beer was mediocre and a little on the expensive side. It was crowded and actually fairly noisy when I went. Not bad for a quick pint but I wouldn't fancy spending hours in there.

Descent enough town boozer with a varied choice of real beer

Looks promising from the outside, six handpumps, two of which were dispensing Tetley's with the others all reserved for beers from small brewers. On the whole I just found the place a bit bland and disappointing. My pint of Goose Eye was drinkable but a bit past it's best. With so many other pubs to choose from in Skipton town centre I'll try somewhere else instead next time.

Visited 7 Jun 05. Four real ales were on offer, we had Hydes Elevation, which was in good condition.

Difficult to judge this pub, as we visited before the lunchtime rush. It was certainly spacious, and the landlord was friendly enough.
