please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Recent menu changes have made visiting this pub an extremely disappointing experience. The pizza menu used to, until very recently, be really varied and reasonably priced however, within the last month or so the prices for pretty much everything have increased by about £2. I mean £12 for a vege burger and chips?! The pint of Brakspear oxford gold I had was dull and tasteless. I doubt we'll be back. Shame.

Had been coming here periodically for the past 6 months or so but now more.

I was sitting my 2 and 3 year old daughters down on a couch and having barely managed to give them a juicebox and before I could even get up to the bar to by myself a pint, one of the barman had swooped over to us and and started cutting into how rude I was for having the audacity to give my children a bit of a snack in his "child friendly" establishment from "the outside" (I have NEVER had a problem doing this ANYWHERE in Brighton, or London, or England, Spain, Italy, France, or the US in the past couple years. Not a single bar, restaurant, pub, you name it.

I could go on and on about the conversation I had with this guy (he even had the cheek to admit he also had a 2 year-old - and no, they don't offer juice boxes or any means of serving up a 2 year old in a child friendly way), but it's hardly worth my breath. I nor my wife nor kids nor any friends I have in the area will be going into this place again.

I've given it a 1 rather than a 0 because they do have a fully enclosed garden.

Due to open on 7th October as The Stoneham Pub and Pizzeria (Good grief!!!). Never much fancied the place before and I doubt whats been done to the place will change my mind.

One of hove's most unusual/quirky/musical pubs, soon to be rogered beyond all recognition by the presumably family-biased buffoons behind the Connaught (great place to hang out if you have a screaming baby/mewling toddler/space taking-up pushchair).
West Hove now no longer has a live music venue. Thanks guys.
The plan is to make it "like zilli/pizza express", apparently. Thanks for saving me the trouble of walking there to confirm i do not like your renovation.
STOP KILLING HOVE'S PROPER PUBS! Whatever next, the Dyke Tavern....?

Soon to be refurbed by the folks who have taken over The Connaught. Thank god.

Please rip everything out and start again.

The loos need updating for a start

Really awful- the front bar is small, selling 'fresh crusty rolls' and Harvey's which is usually well past its best. The rear room hosts rock / heavy metal nights which is probably the only reason to come here, if that is your thing.

The front bar is over-lit but still manages to be dull and dreary, not a great place to spend an evening. Go here for the music - basic pub blues.

The "front" bar is very much corner local boozer. The "rock bar" is much larger and a little more up-to-date.

The position of the stage is odd - it's tucked into a corner facing the bar. The music seems to be mostly newer rock/metal.

Nice pint of Pride in their last week.

Use this pub now and again in the afternoon. Always a friendly bunch proping up the bar and hard not to get talking. Good pint of London Pride and decent prices. Friendly bar staff. Went to a rock night once, everybody seemed to be having a good time but too loud for me, age?

This so called "Rock Bar" is nothing more than full of Alcoholic musicians who claim to have given the drink up! They also think they still have the talent from say 20+ years ago when record deals and great oppotunities were given to them on a plate!!! Go and have a reality check!!!! Unless you like these people I wouldn't bother

First couple of times I came here, I ended up in the front bar, which was a bit drab and dreary. Couldn't understand whay it was considered a music venue. On discovering the back bar, a large spacious area with a pleasant atmosphere, I realised why this is such a good venue for music. The patrons are friendly, the bar staff are efficient. The gigs are cracking and it's difficult not to have a good time.
