Visited this pub several times over the last couple of years being relatively close to home.Always found the food good, very reasonably priced and almost served before being ordered.Only ever seen two real ales available, Abbot and one other.Bar staff friendly at all times and very efficient.

Had my wedding reception here last month (June) and we were more than happy with the service we received. The rear of the pub has a separate area which the bar staff cordoned off for our guests and everything went superbly well on the day. the couple running the pub and staff could not have been more helpful and everything we asked for was done without problem. Recommended!

I have to say that I really enjoyed my first ever visit to this pub, even though I have lived close for many years. It's got a great "local" feel to it, quite old fashioned, and the ale on tap was great. House ale was abbot ale, and the guest ale was called flankers tackle, which was one of the best ales I have ever tasted in a pub. Food was also good in here, but before I rate it really high, I will pop back one night and see if it's as nice then as it was on my first visit. First impressions though are always a good reflection, and I thought the place was great, and look forward to going back.

This is what i consider my "local" - living in birmingham at uni up there, but this is my favourite pub in brommers. Its expensive, which is the only downside i think - a pint of fosters is 2.50, and a magners is 3.55. However its made up by the locals who are there, always willing to talk to you in the evening. Its not usually bustling, but busy enough to make it feel loved. Currently renovating, half the pub at a time, so its quite small athe moment. IPA and abbots served when i went in.

This is one pub that has certainly risen in my estimation since my last posted comment. The current landlord is very friendly & accommodating & has done an excellent job in turning this place round again. Still Greene King IPA & Abbot but you can now also find a beautifully kept pint of Ruddles County, something of a rarity in these parts. A game of pool will set you back 1.20 but no deposit or expense is necessary to throw a few darts. Petite rear bear garden where you'll get eaten alive by bugs after dusk, there are also a few benches out the front overlooking Southborough Lane. The Chequers has been one of the 1st pubs in the area to apply for a late licence for Thursday through Sunday for when the new laws come into effect, let's hope they get it. Frequent BBQs & novelty fun days throughout the summer, the effort is certainly being put in - we pray the current proprietor sticks around for the foreseeable.

Not sure about this one. Has a 'chain-pub' feel to it. Greene King IPA & Abbot & Fullers London Pride in the way of real ale. Usual lager contingent. Jukebox, 2 pool tables & darts available. Quiz night Sunday. Can get a bit rowdy after a high profile football game. Been through more changes of management than Tottenham Hotspur. Varied clientale. The big local, Pete, a relic of the pub's character-filled past, has his own chair & casts a watchful eye over the ever-changing faces. At peak times prone to attracting the wrong sort of young crowd who leave the toilets with a musky odour.
