More gastro than pub. Good food, though.

This used to be one of my favourite locals until I moved house. I was back in the area so my boyfriend and I went in for drinks. Not too much had changed. Atmosphere was good. Old and young mix. We got a little cramped for space as the evening went on. We had a few pints, I think a fair price for the setting, and crips (normally delicious) but a little too burnt this time. Waited a little to long for the second batch, but good! I put it down to it being busy. Disappointed I didn't recognise any of bar staff, they didn't seem as friendly as the last bunch. Anybody know what happened to Karen, Fernanda,..? I'd go again (off night perhaps), my boyfriend wouldn't.

What an odd place this is. Staff stared at us like mesmirised owls for ten minutes before parting with drinks. Pricey, flat lager, filthy floors, `modern parents` with annoying brats called Tarquin. Gastropubs are a hellish form of punishment at the best of times but once upon a time in a galaxy far far away, this used to be a proper pub. How times are a changing.

Long time ago, but agree completely with Zaheer. Turned a decent pub into something ghastly.

Seems pretty devoid of atmosphere, and somehow not truly a pub. Not badly presented but overpriced and dull, not really worth a visit i don't think.

Friendly staff (big up to Vicki & Fernanda) Love the potato chips/crisps. Pretty pricey but then it's a cosy atmosphere. The clientele generally look like students and middle aged men reading the FT coz there's nothing better to do...
Nice gaff but not my scene.

Excellent pub, nice bar staff..drinks are average priced. A Great place to catch up with friends.. If your only wanting to have the one drink this place is to be avoided as you end up staying all day. Nice Men :-)

The huge effort spent on presentation can't hide the fact this is a bad pub. The beer is over priced and not well kept, the staff (with one exception) are of the pretty but useless variety so popular in these 'image is everything' places. The food is quite good but very expensive, I suspect the reason it's still run like this is that there are no other pubs nearby. Put simply, what proper pub has a manager who wears blue tinted sunglasses inside a dark pub?

This is Sleb haven for any Heat-ophiles out there. It's not a bad pub, but it falls in the 'not quite a pub, not quite a restuarant' bracket. It's alright, but it hasn't got any real soul. Something that won't be an issue for you if you're quite happy to sit and stare at 'people off the telly'. However, there's nothing offensive about it, it's friendly and clean and it gets the job done. Just don't go asking for autographs.

Beautiful looking pub inside and out, obviously spent a lot on the refurb. Very good menu. More of an eating place i think but the bar area is fine for a few drinks with your mates. If you want a 'boozer' per se go to the rat and parrot up the road. The uy with the dreadlocks was there on my visit and I have to agree, asking for an evening menu at 4.30 seemed to send him in to a bit of a panic for some reason.

they totally messed up the place.. it was great before it was done up, used to go there all the time to watch footie and have a game of pool, but now it's just another poncy gastro pub.. definitely not going in there anymore

Very good food, decent selection of beer / spirits and wine. Very nice decor. Good service although I did not fall in love with any of the bar girls!

A very nice pub me and my girlfriend went for a few beers and some lunch in the summer. It not to cheap but well well worth it. Lovley inside and outside quailty food, beer and barmaids..

Absolutely beautiful pub interior. As noted earlier, beautiful bar maids. Pity about the loud reggae/rap music, the bloke with dreadlocks behind the bar and the prices - which match the West End. Really well worth a visit, before adjourning to Ye Olde Swiss Cottage for a reasonably priced pint.

Excellent, The best bar i have been to for a long time. The beer and wine are good and competetively priced. The bar staff are friendly and very attractive. I fell in love with 3 of the bar maids.

Recommended. Sit outside and watch the world go by. Saw Morray Hunter outside on a blind date!

This is a lovely pub with a great atmosphere.

The staff are particularly friendly and relaxed.

What a bonus for the village.

I saw Mel & Sue in there after the 5-1 England Germany game.
