Had lunch here a couple of weeks ago. Very friendly attentive service and very nice Steak & Ale Pie. A pie with a proper crust - all the way round it... Not just a bowl with a lump of puff pastry over it. Yum. Didn't try the beer - had to go back to work in the afternoon.

I am really quite stunned by the reviews of markh2010, this person obviously has a vendetta against this pub abd it's owners. I have visited this pub on many occassions over the past 15 years and have never found it to be as good as it is now. The manageress is a star - friendly, courteous, helpful and attentive. The remainder of the staff are hard working, diligent and well mannered. The food is excellent, large portions, well priced and well presented. The atmosphere is electric, especially on a Tuesday night (quiz night).

It is obvious to me that Markh2010, has an ulterior motive for posting such venom. maybe the staff would let him bring his skateboard in, or some other of his toys. If he should ever read this, he should ask a grown up what the big words mean. Excellent pub, unfortunately with some imbosilic reviews.

Just got back from a really fun night down at this pub ... the staff were really cheerful and helpful and the quiz was a good laugh!
Have a good selection of beer and wine too!

I moved to Wootton a few months ago and I've been to The Yeoman about five times with my family and work colleagues.
It's a nice pub, the food is good - it's pub food and priced accordingly. The service is good even when busy, the landlady must have changed because I was there for lunch (today) and she is not Welsh, she has a Northampton accent and she took the time to welcome us and explain what was on the menu.
Don't believe what has been written on some of the posts above, pubs are having a tough time these days and don't need bad unjust comments.
And before anyone comes on accusing me of being related to the pub owners or staff, I'm not. I just think it's only fair that someone provides a bit of up to date comment.

What has happened to this pub?? I have been going here on and off for a few years andused to love it, but i am sad to find it has gone downhill bit by bit. Another review said about the assistant manager back in 2006. She may have been a bit short but she certainly ran a tight ship. The food used to be fantastic home cooked and the staff were lovely. Now it is some awful 2 for 8 type restuarant, the staff are useless and unfriendly and behind the bar was a disgrace. The lack of customers shows this place is not a patch on how it was a few years ago. We have just given it the benefit of the doubt one last time!

Good food. Kind of restaurant pub as, to be fair, most in the area are. Service is very slow and staff spend time talking to each other instead of serving customers but once you do get served its an enjoyable pub for a few drinks and something to eat.

Really nice place in a great location, I just wish the staff would actually realise that they are there to serve customers and not be so miserable when they have to!

really gorgeous pub in a gorgeous part of northampton (there are some? i hear you shout) pity the assistant manager is so uptight and generally miserable, i had the misfortune of being served by her. the rest of the staff were lovely though and full marks to the kitchen and waitress staff, gorgeous food preseneted and delivered lovingly...
