Popped in on a Sunday lunchtime for a swift half whilst walking the dog.Friendly staff, clean and tidy interior with bare floorboards style. Attractive conservatory and raised patio area overlooking the main road in front.Very pleasant garden with picnic tables at the back.Small car park to the side. Doombar and Harveys on draught. I could pop in again when they have live music on. It should have been busier on a Sunday lunchtime because it was quite pleasant. Our visit today deserves a 8/10.

The new management have done a wonderful job with this pub and it is still pre renovation! The food is fantastic and the menu comprehensive. Overall the atmosphere is welcoming suiting both those seeking good food and a drink and families as there are many snugs to choose from. I look forward to visiting in the New Year post renovation which could only be improving an already great pub atmosphere/experience.

oh and just in case anyone plans to go for pool, darts or tv watching these aren't anywhere to be seen - it's just a relaxing place for yummy food and good ale.

Wasn't sure about this pub especially with the reviews below but I was pleasantly surprised. It has recently had a change of owners (October 2011) and they have introduced gastro pub food, given the pub a deep clean and - from talking to the owners - are planning a big refurb in the new year after which they are introducing jazz.

I came in with my family and had a lovely meal and the best pint of harveys that I have had in a long time. Would have rated it a 10 but as the place is a little dated and there are such great plans afoot, I wanted to give them room for improvement :)

Unbelieveable!!!!! we went to pub this weekend at 6pm. Ask for a bitter and gin and tonic, both unavailable they had run out, ordered food but soup of the day off the menu again run out! ordered other starters, 45 mins had passed no sign of our starters, we went to the bar to see how long they were going to be only to be told chef had gone to the local shop to do some food shopping, we said you are joking, but no barmaid said no we have no food, apart from having no food and the toilets smelling like the back end of calcuta it was a complete disaster, consequently we left and didnt pay for our drinks, what made us laugh is they said they were having a large party of guests in that nite so available tables was a problem, well we drove past the pub 2 hours later completey empty, what a way to run a business, DONT GO TO THIS PUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Superb place. Food amazing and to a much higher standard than most in the area (easily beats Weavers, Hand and Sceptre, Barn etc). Great sunday roast too (and perfect setting).

Gorgeous large outside garden away from main road - and as grass area very few wasps/bees/flying things (always a positive when trying to relax in the sun!)

Good choice of wines covering the bases, lots of beers/ales on tap.

Def one ill keep going back to!

Hey we loved this place, clean, bright, friendly. The new owners are making a real effort to upgrade, and serve a very good pint. They serve really good food at reasonable prices, English or good home cooked Thai dishes. The manageress is very hospitable but runs a tight ship. Probably not for pub crawlers, but good for excellent beer and good food.

This pub is grotty - plain and simple. The decor is bad and the atmosphere....what atmosphere! It's not welcoming at all, and I don't intend on going back there. It's still frequented by Chavs.

Well what a change!
Gone are the pool table, fruit machines, dart board etc. (And Chavs!!)
This is now a calming place with a great ambience a good selction of beers and wines from around the world and a great menu. The garden is huge and it appears the new owners are working hard to make sure this is the place to be on a sunny day!
Beer a little expensive, but worth paying that little more to drink in comfort.

pub that seems to have lost the plot a bit to me. unexceptional which is fine, but is stunningly expensive for a pub of that ilk.

Fairly average local pub. Has the usual dart board, pool table, bad pub food.

The inhabitants tend to be, in advertising terms, C2 and lower. However, they tend to be friendly enough if you can speak to them over the roar of the football.
