user reviews of the Apsley House, Southsea

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Large open plan pub with outside seating at the front of the pub, had three real ale on draught and a decent selection of lagers and ciders on offer.

Drank the "summer lightening" which was was very well kept.

Good selection of music on the jukebox and a TV for the sport.

Good sevice at the bar.

Decent side street drinking pub.

OK pub with 3 beers on from Hopback when we visited. The owners must have read previous posts about cleanliness as the toilets were fine. All in all not a bad pub with a friendly member of staff.

very grubby pub, don't think it's been cleaned in years especially the gents, very noisy juke box and the pool table dominates, don't know how much ale he sells as everybody else was drinking lager, there are much better pubs than this in southsea

Always enjoy my visits here, usually excellent local real ales (and cheap during happy hour), noisy jukebox, but the music selection is good. Its also well situated on my cycle home. Both the pub cat and the landlord seem to have plenty of character, but only one sleeps on top of the jukebox, guess which? Pity it does not have wifi, but very happy to drink somewhere with a mobile phone ban!

One of the best pubs in Southsea - lovely outdoor tables in summer, cosy rustic interior for those cold winter months. Great landlord and jukebox, and a brilliant pub cat. I never fail to have a great evening in here with friends.

Yep, I like this place as do a lot of my friends. Superb location in aside street off of the sea front. Good (rock) crowd of peoplec usually drink here making it a crap music free zone almost. Good ale, with a regular turnover of guests. NEDRAD wold certainly approve.

Use it regularly, good mix of grizzled locals and studenty types. The landlord is a character (meant as a compliment) who gets very stroppy if anybody tries to use a mobile phone on the premises. One of the better jukeboxes - good mix of stuff from the 60s onwards rather than just the latest compilations of chart stuff from the last couple of years which seems to be the norm everywhere else now. Usually a couple of real ales on which can vary in quality, but are fine more often than not.

the landlord is proper friendly and looks after his punters like a landlord should. he stocks a great selection of local, real ales, traditional cloudy cider and tastey port scratchings! the food is good, honest grub for a decent price. brilliant atmosphere - an all round friendly, british, local boozer!!!
