This place is massive. It's a food-led pub that also caters for drinkers. It also seems to cater for large functions. Ales were Thwaites Lancaster Bomber, Gale's HSB & Yates' Zigg Zagger. We elected to eat here. Most tables were reserved. But they could still accommodate us. I had the partridge from the specials board, which was very nice indeed. My wife was not as impressed with her burger. The small drinkers area in the centre was populated with a group who were quite rowdy and whose language was not the best. Fairly decent place.

Found a table that seated all 7 of us almost immediately when we came for the carvery a couple of weeks back. Pleasant staff, good range of ale although I didn't try any as was driving. Big garden for the children and plenty of wasps for everyone. Bit on the pricey side though but generally good.

Good family pub. Food on the better side of family food and the play area is great. Also helps you can sit inside while kids use the equipment.

Visited this pub about 3 years ago and thought it was a gem. Returned last week and what a disapointment. Pub had been extended and has lost all its charm; now looks and feels like any other chain pub. Agree with comments about the back room; all the atmosphere of a a works canteen. Walked straight back out again. One to miss unless you like chain pubs

I have always found this pub okay, I agree the large rear family room is impersonal. The back bar is a good place to chat to the locals. Meals have always been good quality. The Childrens play are is very good. Beer quality her is very good also.

I have visited this pub on a number of occasions over the last ten and have always had a good meal.
I agree that it is now too big and impersonal.
We normally eat in the back bar not the restaurant as we prefer child free facilities.
This pub does offer good family facilities in the main restaurant.
We try to avoid it in the Summer months

Dreadful service, dreadful food. I think the owners have got too greedy and have turned this into a production line. Shame. Nice location. Would not return.

Too big, Too impersonal, too tourist oriented. Despite being a huge pub, this place has only a very small drinking area, the rest given over to eating. Made upm somewhat by the excellent beer quality, I would still drive past, given the choice again. Visted July 04, vote 5 (just for beer quality)
