Anyone know why it's closed - landlord still living above?

The Wendover used to be a druggies' paradise but it cleaned up its act and is now a good pub. Probably not for long for the reasons of the smoking ban losing all the business. BTW I grew up round there and I can assure you it has been in Manchester since the war, when the council bought all the land round there from Cheshire to build the large council estate. Bingo_Accent is wrong, as the other astute people have pointed out. Isn't it funny how when people are in the wrong they get to insulting the people who are right, rather than check the facts.

Very good local,if a little quiet during the day.Reasonable prices and cracking food on offer from Cills Grill. The mixed grill is highly reccommended.Worryingly,a lot of young muppets seem to be in there on a Sunday night, when it gets very busy.

Excellent pub, John the landlord is a legend. Good beer and excellent entertainment. A must for anyone within staggering distance. P.s the Manchester border starts at the brook running under the Shaftesbury flyover near the rounabout.

oi bingo i live a stones throw away from the Wendy house as it's affectionately known by the locals and if you care to look at the post code M23 think that might give it away that it's in Manchester!
Mind you dont have dealings with the Landlady! As much as tear a beer mat and you're barred.

Oi - Bingo_Accent think you'll find that although it is on the boundaries of Sale & Brooklands The Wendover is classed as being in Manchester - they pay their Council Tax to Manchester Borough Council like the residents nearby - so I suggest YOU get your fecking facts right.

Antoine - I suggest you get out an A-Z! Brooklands is a suburb of Sale, and is in the boundaries of Trafford MBC - a good 5 miles from the Manchester CC border...

The pub is a shadow of it's former self. The landlord John has really done a wonderful job on this place. Entertainment is good especially the quiz on a Thursday night! Keep up the good work.

Fairly large for the area but deathly quiet, at least at lunchtime.
