This place is currently closed, and due to re-open in October under the name Harrison's by the same people that run Sam's Brasserie in Chiswick

This place has been closed since beginning of August. It re-opens with new management in September. I can only hope it will be better than the mother's and baby club it became when I used to go there... Can't comment on evenings.

I read the reviews on the website as i was due to go there that evening. I must say i was put off as it sounded pretentious and over priced. But i was pleasently surprised. The food was excellent and the service very good too. However i do resent having to pay 20 for a bottle of wine that costs 4 to buy! All in all quite pricey but worth it.

I agree with im_johnny_cash. Well put. 6/10, could easily be a 7 or 8 if it was a bit more consistent. Capable of more.

Sometimes great, sometime mearly adaquate. There is no doubt that the barstaff know what they are doing, mixing great drinks and serving good wines, it just seems that it atracts too much of a pretetious crowd.
They should loose the table at the top of the stairs to the 'play-room' as it creats an unnessary bottle neck.

I've been using this place since it opened - it used to be my local, but now I've moved to the other side of Balham I don't go so much. One thing I can say about it is that it seems to go through phases of being utter rubbish - unimaginative menus, poorly prepared food, surly, superior and downright rude waiting staff, the slightly 'dodgy' element it attracts (mostly mates of the staff, it seems to me) - interspersed with times when it's top notch. I've had some fantastic meals here which compare with anything I've had at Chez Bruce, and the atmosphere can be brilliant on the right night.

It seems to me that the Soho House bigwigs come across the River once in a while and crack the whip, and standards improve for a while. This is followed by a steady drop-off until the same happens again. I might be wrong, but that's just my point of view, and it matches the patterns I've seen since its opening.

I'd say it's well worth a night out there on the whole, but it can be a bit of a lottery, especially when it's on a downward curve.

Not bad, but vastly overated by all who go there. Didn't think much of the food + the decor has all been done before. Much better places to go in Balham.

very good cocktail barmen, waiting staff is like in TGI Fridays, 10 of them are chattinh about, but you wait ages to order, food is very tasty but to small portions, and you always have to order chips or salad on top of the price

Driven / walked past BKBB many times over the past 18 mths, only went in for the first time recently. Took my GF twice in a long w/e we liked it so much! The food was fantastic, the waiting staff the best I've had in Balham yet & the food extremely good value for money. Price is average but quality is very good. Lovely place, good atmosphere, will return many times.
