Popped in on my dinner break from work and was happily surprised at the quality of this pub. Was informed it was a bit studenty but went in with a open mind. A nice large beer garden with a tv at the back. Would be ideal for summer months. Inside is nice and spacious with several pool tables. Seems to also do good food, although I didn't manage to catch the prices. The only downside was there were 3 ales ( EPA but can't remember the other 2) but non were available at this time. I think it was the general atmosphere that impressed me the most as was friendly but vibrant. Defo worth a look if in the area.

Chain student pub, need i say more?

If you are are looking for a reasonably decorated pub, with ok bar staff, but dont mind awful, awful draft beer, and want to be surrounded by drunk 18 year olds then this place is for you. If however you want a decent pint and a traditional pub (which this place used to be when it was the pot or the firkin) then you will be disappointed.

try over the road at the sacks of potatoes if you are over 20 and/or want a real ale.

IMO the chain has ruined what used to be a decent real ale pub with a mico-brewery out the back. Also watch out for the constant piles of broken glass outside

As a former Aston student, this was a regular hangout for myself and my friends. In my final year, the standard of beers available was much better. After having just the regular selection of Carlsberg, Fosters, Carling and the ghastly Worthington's, it was refreshing to see the likes of Fruli, Staropramen and Hoegarden enter the fray. The food is average at best, and takes a long time especially when the football is on. All in all, an average pub but being a former Aston student gives it that sentimental value to come back time and again.

Best scream pub I have been in, although i can only compare to the Gun Barrels and the Bristol Pear(both in Selly Oak). The beer was better, and the service was faster than the Gun Barrels anyway, (the Pear is dead unless the footy is on). Will go back.

Nice size in terms of tables and bar and plently of TVs, hence popularity for footie. However it is very often understaffed when busy, seem to end up waiting half an hour to get served every other visit. Probably too much of a trek from town for non-students, prices are also less for students.

Gosta is a brilliant pub. Not to be rude to candm, but it is a student pub, so it may not reach the standards of some other pubs in terms of cleanliness etc - although I've never noticed a dirty table in my four years of Uni! Quite extensive and cheap food menu, pound-a-drink on Monday nights, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Gosta is the best on-campus (Aston Uni) pub by a mile.

Went here for the England Game on Saturday 3rd Sept 2005. It was great, two big screens, lots of TVs, friendly staff, and cold beer.
Even though they were packed we ordered food and it arrived in 20mins. Recommend the Breakfast - v.good value for money, great sausages.
The girl that served us took time over our order and checked my girlfriends order in the kitchen as she has a nut allergy.
Even though the football was on it wasn't too "laddy" and my girlfriend said she felt really comfortable.
One of my new fave pubs even though its a "chain",
visit if you're passing.

Went there last night. They ran out of draught lager, it took ages to get served, they ran out of pint glasses, the staff were rude and unfriendly, the tables were dirty, there was no gas in the patio heaters, there were no seats on the ladies loos but there WAS toilet paper (shock, horror!). On the plus side, there is lots to do and the food was ok.
