please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I've passed through Port Talbot a few times on the train, but never alighted. It looks like a fairly grim place. The main street has a handful of bars and take-away joints. The highlight appears to be the Lord Caradoc, a branch of Wetherspoon's. The pub was busy. But the ale range was disappointing. The regular beers - Sharps Doom Bar, Greene King Abbot & Ruddles Best were supplemented by just two guests - Brains The Rev James & Nick Stafford's Hambleton Ales Nightmare Porter. However there were three fruit ciders left over from 'spoon's recent cider festival - Snail's Bank Rhubarb Cider, Tempted Elderflower Cider & Cock Eyed Pear Mania. I opted for the Elderflower Cider and watched for almost 10 minutes whilst four staff members all tried to squeeze the last of the box into my glass. I could have ended up with a free half. But I was driving and unable to take up their offer. Probably the best pub in Port Talbot. I moved on from here to the excellent Brit Pub in Cwmafan and the Federation Bar in Maesteg. I'll request both to be added to the site.

An extremely busy wetherspoons in a town full of crap pubs. It's probably the best place to go for a real ale and different beers.

Get your facts right. All children that come in to the premises have to eat. no stop off for a drink.
The licence that the pub has, ONLY allows children in if their eatng. You should order your meals with your first round of drink. Once you have finished eating, you have only 30 min to leave the premises.Last kids orders by 8.30 pm, out by 9 pm. Not complying with these rule may mean that the pub may lose its licence. so doesn't matter if it was 4 pm or 7 pm??
ps. spelling for imagine !!! & 20 is nothing, if the pub gets shut out!!

I Thourght this pub was child frindley until this afternoon when i brought my grandson in.I told your new manager that i was only waiting for my wife to arrive to pick us up and ordered a drink for me and a
squash for my grandson where i was refused unless i ordered food,i have to tell you there are many families come to your pub and enjoy without having any food. You can imajine my dismay when i was treated like this, also i have to tell you i drink in your pub every day ,spending about twenty pounds on average, also my wife and i never stay late and have always been treated with graet respect. If the time was after severn o'clock i would have understood your managers outburst as it was it was only four forty five. Can you tell me is this is the way you train your managers to behave. If so then you have lost our custom. We have always enjoyed in the past lets hope something can be done to keep your customers happy in the future
