I've poped into this pub occasionally for a little over a year. It's what I'd call a typical medium sized pub. The atmosphere is far from hostile, the staff are fine, although nothing great but certainly bad. I've yet to order food. Overall a nice place.

I have used this pub in the past 2 years off and on.The food is good and reasonably cheap.Bar staff are poor. The drinking and eating area boring.the licencee spends more time on holidays and showing her dogs then controlling what is going on in the pub.Poor managment is in so many pubs today.I will not be eating or drinking there again.

Why does refurbishment usually now mean a crap pub?
I used to drink in here a few years ago when it was a comfortable pub with decent furniture and it still sold real beer. Sorry to see Banks's keg mild instead of the real thing. I'll give it a miss from now on.

The latest in a long line of refurbishments and another new gaffer appears to have eliminated this pubs bad reputation. The food looked good on my visit this afternoon. Mild was only Banks's keg smooth pour but at least it is well kept and at 1.55 a pint I didn't feel I had been ripped off unlike at the Greyhound at Lower Penn where they charge 2.10 for the same stuff. Being the nearest pub to home this place should be my local but I would rather travel out to the Robin Hood at Amblecote for one of their ever changing guest cask MILDS or the Old Bulls Head at Lower Gornal for their Pig on the Wall cask MILD and excellent weekend entertainment.
