Now sadly down to two hand pumps - but only one clipped - Bass. But not a bad pint and at £2.50 a pint, pretty good value for a city centre pub.

Overall, no longer a must visit boozer in the real ale capital of the world.

Well I gave them another chance , but thwy didn't take it !

This time the one handpimp out of 6 that was available was serving Bass.

I walked in, saw that of 5 or 6 handpumps, only one was serving anything (Whitstable Pale Ale), and walked out again !

I'll give them another chance on my next visit.

Decor is a bit odd but other than that a cracking pint of Dancing Duck. Friendly enough staff worth a pop in!

Fantastically kept St Austell Tribute and a couple of guests usually on. Modern-ish but the amount of strange, old office furniture takes away some of the credibility of the place.

The landlord is friendly but the location is rather isolated but definitely the best pub in the immediate vicinity of Victoria St / Albert St / Morledge on this side of the river.

In spite of the previous rather negative comments, I actually like the Metrobar.

OK, it has its faults, but I dont find either the dcor or the furniture a problem. More to the point, I feel really comfortable drinking in here because unlike many of the other nearby city centre pubs, it does not seem to attract the dregs of Derbys lowlife.

It has five hand pulls. St. Austell Tribute and Sharps Doom Bar seem to be the regulars, plus a selection from a variety of micros, all of which are usually in pretty good condition. I cant remember seeing all five pumps in use, but IMHO, post-it-kinda-notes on the pump clips saying Sorry, Run Out or Coming Soon is the sign of a good turnover and a good cellar man.

Admittedly, whilst it is not quite in the same league as the Babington, the Olde Dolphin, the Royal Standard or the Silk Mill, the Metrobar should be a MUST for inclusion on any pub crawl around the real ale capital of England.

Needs some care and attention - feels like a station waiting room with shabby office chairs, cheap sofas and a bad paint job but the beer was good. Worth dropping in on a crawl.

This place has recently been taken over by the guy who used to be the landlord at the Wardwick when it was good. Now has 4/5 real ales on the bar. It still looks pretty much the same though and lacks character. Worth a look in if on a crawl through Derby centre.

A bar, is a bar, is a bar...
