user reviews of Moor Top, Heaton Moor

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Even though it has had a refurb it still doesn't make it. It used to be a great pub with a great atmosphere about 8 years back. Since then it has gone completely down hill. Now it is gloomy with no atmosphere and the worst pub food anywhere. Tables are sticky and dirty. Real shame as it is a large pub and has great potential.

seriously lagging behind other pubs in Heaton Moor. poor ale selection.

similar to George and Dragon in Heaton Chapel. A pub that does everything (food, drink, pool, darts, sky sports) but delivers nothing.

A real shame as this could be so much better. With no other pubs within 10 mins' walk, they could make a killing if they put a bit more effort into it.

Ignore all the comments below, this pub is a fantastic pub with real local spirit which none of the others have. the Liz down the road is for students and fights every night. Moor Top Many years ago used to have a reputation, but that was just me and my Mates who were rather large and hate United fans. Times have changed and this is a community pub with community Spirit, whole families go in there, even the ex mayor of Stockpot drank and drinks still in there (who is a good friend of mine and my old CO). So if anyone says that this is a dive, then why do mayors of Stockport dine, drink and socialize in there ??

This is a great pub, it is not a tacky student pub like the Liz. if you want a great community spirit, visit this pub. decor is not up to date, but after 4 pints who gives a monkey ?

I totally agree with the review below. This pub used to have a good reputation and was always a busy pub with a good atmosphere. It has totally gone to the dogs and is not a place you would want to be.
Stay down the other end of heaton moor and do yourself a favour - the place should be closed down for all the trouble that goes on in there its a disgrace. Years ago the Elizabethan was a problem and yet they know have doormen and over 21's and is a nice place to be - astounds me that nothing is being done about this pub - it is a long long time since it had the bad reputation it now has and it is a real shame.

To say that this pub has gone down hill is an understatement. It use to be great for drinks and food. It also used to get great atmosphere for football matches.
The food to be fair is still decent enough for the price. It has now become a very dangerous pub, fights and police raids throughout the Christmas period has made me stay completely clear of this pub. I put this review on because i feel that no one should enter a public house not knowing that it has a very recent history of terrible violence inside this pub including people being sent to hospital. Such a shame because as i have said it used to be a great pub to eat and drink in.

THE PUB: dated interior but not unclean refurb needed.ATMOSPHERE: none THE STAFF: courteous but not overly. THE FOOD : ok value 2 for 9 good portions but not the best compared with the elizabethan and 1 more for 2 meals. SUMMARY : ok food ok pub ok staff but theres no real wow factor! not part of the spiritgroup see website! wouldent eat here again . if you want good fresh food with genuinely courteous staff the elizabethan wins hands down!! try both and compare !!

This pub has to be one of the worst in the 4 Heatons. The landlady doesn't seem to care about the litter in the car park, the 2 broken walls which is a real eyesore, or generally keeping both the interior and exterior clean and modern looking. Also, there's an awful smell (like stale fat) around the place - which puts me off eating there. There are much nicer pubs in the area and with a friendlier landlady too.

I was very surprised by this pub, it serves great beer be it ale lager or cider, excellent food at excellent prices. friendly and helpful bar staff who will take channel requests (for footy etc.) great all round.
could do with a new carpet and some paint.

Traditional interior , would benifit from a slight re-furb. Warm atmosphere with mixed clients mainly of a more mature ambience. Fine ales on offer although priced high than the other village pubs.
